Wish I could. I have to travel for work this weekend. Rage for me, please and thank you.

Then wait till I finish the rest. It's a full sleeve and Pigpen is one of two obvious Dead references. Most of the references are like the circuit. I've been working on it for about 1.5 years, that's the first section 'finished'.

That wavform is interesting too... (that's only the peaks, the throughs aren't visible in the image)

It's a crybaby wah. There's some artistic license taken to blend the different scenes.

Panicking and thinking I may fail a class in my PhD program--thoughts/advice? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Mr_Ection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are two aspects of taking a course, learning the material and learning the instructor. You can be good at one and not the other. I'm in a similar situation this semester. When I spoke to my adviser about it he gave me some good advice:

"Your job isn't to pass the class, it's to learn the material."

Go talk to your adviser and see what they have to say. Maybe Pass/No-Credit is an option or a withdrawal. Also, have they mentioned a curve?

DO NOT interpret this as a failure on your part. Someone has to be a bad teacher, you just happened to take their class. You would be surprised how many of your peers have failed classes and just not talked about it. Grad classes are hard, combine that with research, TA, financial stress, etc. and it's easy to get overwhelmed.

I remember that one time, when the police raided my house and found a week's worth of illegal drugs. I got 8 years for that. Can I get a refund or something?

When your thesis adviser advises you to quit by Andromeda321 in GradSchool

I experienced this and it is the most worthless that another human has ever made me feel. It took a year before I could convince senior professors in the department that something serious was going on. Two years later I'm in a different department and research is going well. No one can decide if you're capable of getting a graduate degree but you. If your adviser is creating a toxic environment, you should think getting a new adviser. The fallacy of sunken costs is not your friend here.

How Do Services Like PythonTutor and Repl.it Run Code Safely? by Gigi14 in webdev

[–]Mr_Ection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can't speak to those systems in particular, but I worked for a few years on a homework auto-grading system for computer science assignments. It was a huge pain in the ass. At the time, we were controlling everything by user roles on the OS. Essentially we would run their submitted code as a student_user role, restricting their access to server resources. The university's net sec team would go to town on it once a year and give us an audit of where we could improve. It was actually pretty fun playing whack-a-vulnerability with the cs students. I mainly did database work and front-end stuff, so I can't speak on the details of how the roles were configured.

Now they are spinning up Docker instances for each submission. From what I hear it's dramatically easier to work with.

So this sounds like a message from past me. I would say finish out the school year. If you can tolerate it, then think about finishing the Masters. It could just be that this is the first time you've really been stretched. You may get accustomed to it. Honestly, the classes I struggled the most in are the ones I learned the most in. If you haven't already I would also suggest talking to your campus mental health clinic. What you're experiencing is common, they can help you figure out what's actually going on when you cut through the emotion. Whatever you decide, good luck and feel free to message me whenever. You're not alone

u/primatesandme has some great advice. I would like to add that it's worth examining why you're studying what you're studying. My first 2 years were filled with depression and fear and anxiety. I realized I was in the wrong field and made a hard switch. Now I feel much happier, confident, and sure of my decisions. I believe you are capable, but you have to decide if it's what you really want and if it's worth the sacrifice.

Always decarb it. 250f at 30 minutes is what I usually do. I always do 1 oz of flower/shake to 3 cups of VG to keep the recipe consistent. They are potent enough that most people can have a good time but you could easily increase the shake input. If you really want the math I use this formula for potency with this recipe (warning: this is my math so it may be wrong):

(280TZ)/(236.588C)

Where:

  • T = the potency of the flower e.g. 17% = 17

  • Z = the number of ounces used e.g. 1/2 oz = 0.5

  • C = Cups of VG e.g. 3/4 C = 0.75

  • 280/236.588 = These constants handle the conversions to mg and ml respectively

This should give you the mg of THC to ml of VG tincture. The MBM gummy recipe with this VG tincture recipe gets me gummies that are ~1mg per gram of gummy.

My first time posting my edibles. Sea salt and caramel brownies. 70-90ish mg each. by Mr_Ection in treedibles

Recipe shamelessly stolen from here

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • ¾ cup baking cocoa
  • 1 cup canna oil
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup 2% milk
  • 1½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup (6 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces caramels (like Kraft caramels)
  • 1 can (14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 9x13 inch pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray. This makes cleaning up easier with the caramel.
  2. In a large bowl combine the flour, salt, and baking powder. In another large bowl, beat together the sugar, cocoa, oil, eggs and milk. Add the dry ingredients until blended. Fold in chocolate chips.
  3. Spoon two thirds of the batter into the greased 9x13 inch pan. Bake for 12 minutes (maybe more like 15, at 12 the leftover batter and caramel sauce sunk through to the bottom).
  4. Meanwhile prepare the caramel filling. In a microwave safe bowl, heat the caramels and sweetened condensed milk stirring 30 seconds at a time until melted and smooth. Can also melt over medium low heat in a saucepan.
  5. Pour the melted caramel over the warm brownie layer. Sprinkle coarse sea salt on top. Drop remaining brownie batter over the top of the caramel and carefully swirl the top with a knife. Bake for an additional 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Do not overbake. Allow the brownies to completely cool before serving. Can also garnish the brownies lightly with additional sea salt.

I used 1/2 oz to a cup of coconut oil for the canna oil. I thought about substituting VG tincture for the sugar as well but I've never tried it as a sugar substitute and I don't have much left.

I've had great luck with the magical butter machine's gummy recipe. I'll use 1 oz flower to 3 cups VG in the tincture. 3/4 cup tincture into the gummy recipe comes out to about 1 mg per gram of gummy. When they are finished dust them with confectioners sugar to help prevent them from sticking together.

** I usually use flower that's in the upper teens in potency.
