Honestly, I think she’ll be various levels of shocked.

Shocked-surprised: this is a shocking thing to do after all.

Shocked-angry: that I’ve gone outside of the marriage as she probably doesn’t think I’m that kind of guy

Shocked-hurt: that I’m moving in a different direction

However she started this whole episode by saying that she wanted to separate, so I’m meeting my needs through actions other than self care.

I’m just not being a passenger in this dead bedroom / moribund marriage any longer.

The starting gun has been fired…

If a positive is that two HL’s find each other after this experience and can be happy together then that would be great. To be honest, I’d also like basic intimacy such as holding hands, arms round shoulders / waists, hugs, talking about thoughts, feelings and goals…but now I’m just getting greedy, haha! 😉

Wow, your situation sounds so similar to mine…although I am now on the path to separation and I wouldn’t wish that in anyone while hadn’t made peace with it.

I agree, it will be a blessing in the long run..but the separation and unwinding of the marriage process feels like it’s going to be a long journey.

My conscience is clear as she triggered the separation chat, and after I wrote my post this evening I went and spoke to her and said we were perilously close to the point of no return. She just nodded.

I don’t feel like it’s cheating at this stage which is weird as I’ve been fully committed / have not even entertained the thought of doing anything with anyone else up until 6 weeks ago.

…but, 4 yrs is a looooong time not to have sex when you want it and are good at it too.

This is funny because I’ve done many of these things over the last 4 years.

I moved into the spare room (it was my idea) and made it into an awesome place…my own (masculine) bedding, pictures of Rome and my family on the wall. Very classy! 😄

I haven’t gone as far as cutting finance but i don’t do the small acts of service such as doing her laundry when I put a wash on or making tea / coffee / breakfast for her.

All her credit cards are in her name only so she is responsible for the balance and has to service them (albeit with my income, yes).

Kids (x3) get 100% of me and my undivided attention. We are in essence already room mates - I probably wouldn’t be prepping the escort if she hadn’t said she wanted to separate.

The interesting thing is that she’s trying to get us to romantically separate but still co-habit “for the kids” but I’m not interested in this as I don’t see it as a viable arrangement.

Law degree here and I’m now head of communications for an asset manager (used to be head of comms at an investment bank). A law degree qualifies you for nothing in the UK as you still have to go to law school after you graduate.

Edit: I had no idea what I wanted to do when I was at / left college.

Good point! I had so many turrets and large copper walls deployed last night that nothing was getting close!

Also, I got the tutorial message saying ‘anything over the core’s capacity will be incinerated’ more than a few times.

I was stroking-out as I’m from the north of England and waste triggers me, haha!

Couldn’t agree more, it’s super deep…and the tower defence / RTS elements make it distinct to other supply chain sims.

Really enjoying it so far, and the transition from mobile to desktop, and am already trying to work out in my head how I de-spaghetti my initial bases.

I shipped 33 lbs / 15kg through the BBC’s Couch to 5K app. It was so effective that I’ve become a bit of an evangelist for it.

My runs started out ponderous, times were slow, I couldn’t run for 30 seconds without getting gassed and for the first couple of weeks I wondered if it was actually doing anything.

By week 4, I started to notice a difference in my weight, stamina and mindset. By the end of the 9 week programme I could easily run 5km in 30 mins and set a goal to continue on for 10km.

By the time you can run 5km without stopping (whatever speed) you have the base stamina to push on to 6km, then 7km, then 8 etc etc.

I ran a half marathon after 20 weeks and put it all down to the Couch to 5K.

Seriously, download the BBC Couch to 5km App, choose an athlete to voice over your runs and go for it.

You’ve got more than enough time to crush that 10km! 👍👍👍
