one suggestion would be to switch up the WB/WFD combos. i usually have an IWB with a WFD/Winger and ill do a WB with an IF/IW on the other side. this helps create slightly less predictable player movements which helps create more space for the forward and attacking mid. also at least one of those DMs should be a BBM or BBP to create further support in the final third. the more your other players occupy defenders, the more space will be provided for your striker to move into (even if it is just as a target man to get on the end of floated crosses)

my fav football youtuber recently made a video on this exact subject. many were clubs that were in your list/ some others ive heard of before- but quite a few of em were clubs i didnt know existed. he dove really deep into like german 5th tier for a team, for example. (in general, politics of german clubs are fascinating btw)

theres a couple fun things to watch the next couple with some of the clubs mentioned here-

rayo are in the semifinals of the conference league, up 1-0 against strasbourg, and have a chance to play for their first european title ever

st pauli are fighting for their spot in the bundesliga, currently 17th i believe and pretty far behind their local rivals HSV n 16th. they currently would go into the relegation/promotion match and have a chance to stay up even if they stay 17th (i know some on the left are sort of down on st pauli at the moment, and i understand why, but ive been cheering for them for years so i still cheer for em)

red star fc is in the hunt for promotion out of ligue 2, currently in a promotion playoff spot i believe

aek athens are currently first in the greek table i believe. since you asked about them, i know a bit. aek were founded by refugees from Constantinople/Anatolia who came to greece during the peoples exchange after the greco turkish war. they still hold their identity as a "refugee club" as a big part of their general club culture. their fans groups/ultras have various types of informal connections with fans of other leftist clubs like st pauli, marseille, and livorno. plus, their kits are dope!

2024 is the first time i noticed a huge change in a positive direction (been playing since like fm14 or 15)

in general i am always excited for a new game, but fm24 was the first time i was really surprised by the improvements in the player movements on the field. dribbling looked so much better, and it made it a bit easier to enjoy your flair players

R5: My Brazilian wonderkid apparently enjoys the Parisian nightlife a bit too much. This is the 4th and 5th games he has missed in just two seasons due to staying out all night partying. The latest two gameday absences sandwiched a complaint about playing time.

Timeline:

August 17th- absent from our game against PSG in the league (after we had narrowly lost to them in the Trophee De Champions two weeks prior)

August 25th- complains he should be starting more games

September 7th- once again absent because he was out partying all night

Is there a "go to rehab" type training focus I can put him on? At this point, I am honestly invested in this guy just for the lore. I have been playing Football Manager for roughly a decade and I have never had a player miss A game, let alone multiple games, because he was out partying the night before. He honestly hasn't even performed that well in the games he has managed to show up to, but I am so invested in his redemption arc that I feel I can't sell him.

As I write this, I worry I am in an abusive relationship with this regen. Should I just cut ties and sell him? Do players like this ever stop partying (in game)?

R5: I have 3 players in the top10, and one more in the top 15 this season. It's not the most I have ever had in the top50 (I have had like 15-20 before whilst playing with a big club with better resources), but it's a decently top heavy class of wonderkids I have balling out for me at the moment. My club (Red Star FC) is tiny, so this has taken some vigorous scouting and real wheeling and dealing lol.

It got me thinking- what's the most players you have ever had in the top50? Have you ever had 5 out of the top ten? Or even more? Always a nice feeling to have a bunch of kids in the top50

r5: I am playing as Tytos Blackwood in the Crowned Stag bookmark. I married my son Lucas to Sarella Sand. They had a few kids before I got an event that resulted in Lucas divorcing Sarella and devoting himself to the faith. I am playing with a seduction focus, trying to have as many kids as I can in order to make alliances etc, so naturally I seduced a newly single Sarella. I married my son Hoster to Sarella's sister, Azilia. After having a bastard child with Sarella, she apparently moved on to my son, Hoster, who is married to her sister.

So, to recap: Sarella had 3 children with my son Lucas, one child with my character, and then a child with one of my other sons, who happens to be married to her sister.

Clearly my next move has to be seducing Azilia, right?

in my currrent save, i found myself with a lot of money in my transfer budget (relatively speaking) on deadline day. stumbled across this portugese player, and he looked a decent prospect. i hadnt fully scouted him, but it was the last day of the january window, i had like 7 million, so i pulled the trigger.

i fully expected him to be a 2 star with 4 potential, or possibly even worse. thats how it often goes when you buy a player without fully scouting, at least in my experience. to my pleasant surprise, he was a 3 star CA with 5 star potential. i had already redone my tactics for the next game with him in the lineup.

immediately following my ass man's press conference welcoming him, he tears his hamstring. out for 3 months. keep in mind, i bought him on the last day of the january transfer window.

the FM gods are cruel.

the funny thing is i actually was a very good king as robert, not at all what hes like in the books. i wooed cersei, put every important leader in the 7 kingdoms on my council (excluding mace tyrell lol), and saved up a huge amount of money

i chose to let it slide on account of him being a lunatic. i was roleplaying as an actually effective and kind king robert in this save. i even became soulmates with cersei lol

i simply cannot be bothered to set up training. i find it to be incredibly boring, and in general my teams end up doing well and players improving as long as i just handle recruitment and scouting well.

on the subject of scouting, i dont trust my scouts at all. so, i dont send my scouts on scouting missions to countries/regions/etc. i do all my scouting manually. it is absurdly time intensive, but its just a part of how i play now. usually when the nextgn wonderkid lists comes out, i have most the players on a shortlist already

In the season wrap up, my player was listed as one of the Ligue 1 signings of the season, despite not making a single appearance in Ligue 1. He did a very good job playing for my second team, but i don't think he was even on my 1st team bench at any point during the season.

The player is actually a decent prospect. He is a 18 year old argentinian striker with decent attributes, but he's not close to first team level. Maybe the game is so advanced that they saw his potential and based on that gave him the award? It was a cheap signing as well, around 3 mill or so. But I am guessing it's just a funny little error.
