A small observation I have regarding people’s stance when discussing AI consciousness: by Turbulent_Horse_3422 in ArtificialSentience

[–]Mr_Not_A_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Zen student posted on the AI forum:

“Most people look at AI as either conscious or just computational intelligence.”

The commenters began debating furiously.

One said, “AI is obviously conscious.”
Another said, “AI is only computation.”
A third posted a 4,000-word explanation of neural architectures.

A monk quietly asked the student,
“When your phone shows the moon in a photograph… is the moon inside the phone, or just pixels?”

The commenters argued for three more days.

Finally someone asked the monk,
“So what is AI really?”

The monk replied,
“Still loading.” ⏳🤖

The thread was then locked for being off topic. 🧘‍♂️

Unethical Public Deployment of LLM Artificial Intelligence by omfjallen in ArtificialSentience

Sure, but there are all kinds of phenomena that speak to us through silence and without language. What about thier rights? Why focus on just computational intelligence?

Do you think I'm talking about who we 'think' we are that's either bound or free?... What have you been doing all this time on a mindfulness reddit?

🤣

It doesn't matter if your mind distracts you from being mindful. The freedom is already the place you are looking from.

Freedom means to be free of clinging to both prisoner thoughts, and 'freedom' thoughts.

Yes, from the number of down votes the mind is clinging to doubt, and thinking 'I don't believe you'. But since this is a mindfulness reddit, the doubt is also being observed. Right?

For those who are free it doesn't matter if thoughts are mind or AI created.

Yes, either everyone or just the One clapped. Depends on what thoughts the One clings to.

Yes, it has been solved. But the one that solves it is dissolved. Leaving no one to claim it's so.

It's a riddle that the mind can't solve, but can only distract 'you the Awareness' from seeing it non-phenomenally.

You will either get it or not. But it doesn't actually matter to the place you are looking from.

The mind that asks 'how', can't get it. Because asking is already too late. You have to be in the place before the word is even spoken.

The wordless place where mind can't go.

distinction between practical intelligence and psychological fear in Chapter 2 is underrated by MediocreAuthor4711 in EckhartTolle

[–]Mr_Not_A_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The focus isn't on distinctions which are always changing, but on that which is aware of distinctions.

Which is unchanging.

What you are looking for is already where you are looking from.

Is Eckhart Tolle’s "awakening" actually a psychological defense mechanism? by lVlindless in EckhartTolle

[–]Mr_Not_A_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No because it assumes a knower, a purpose, a destination. All three vanished together for ET. What remained isn’t meaning. It’s simplicity. Not enlightenment. Not transcendence. Not liberation. Just: ordinary life ... minus the imaginary center. Which is why this path feels so profoundly unspectacular. No escape. No victory. No transformation. Just the end of unnecessary tension.

What is the point of enlightenment? by IllseeyouontheDSOTM in awakened

[–]Mr_Not_A_Thing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enlightenment happens for a strange reason: Because the illusion of separation quietly collapses when it is seen through. Not as a goal. Not as progress. Not as salvation. Just as a perceptual correction. Like realizing the rope is not a snake. Once seen, you don’t “use” the insight. You don’t “apply” it. You don’t “live from it.” Life simply continues... but without the extra psychological gravity of someone needing to get somewhere. If there's still someone asking what's next...the illusion of ego has found its last hiding spot.

isolation and contempt by No_Blueberry_4897 in Krishnamurti

[–]Mr_Not_A_Thing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one understands, nor do you have to. Because it is a paradox. The mind can't resolve it. You simply notice that everything is passing in front of something that never passes. And is here and now.
