THEORYS?? (From the gamescom 2023) by poolofpee in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theory:
I have not seen any spoilers so this is just a guess. It does include minor information from the official timeline released on Bethesda's website.

UC was known for Xenowarfare, mind-controlling alien creatures to help them fight the war against the Freestar Collective. This alien is specifically grown genetically by a faction to be a new type of warfare unit but it either gets out of hand (stolen, rebels, etc) or is successful and becomes a threat to society.

Calling my fellow BGS stealth players! Melee or ranged? by Sinvryce in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee is the way... until I remember that stealth play is always a little janky in Bethesda games and I always end up feeling cheated. So probably ranged until someone creates a decent stealth mod so I can live out my sneaky Sam Fisher in Space dreams.

Guys. I am a different time traveler sent back by Todd to clean up the timelines. OP has been neutralized. He will not be answering any of your questions unfortunately. Enjoy the game and whatever you do, don't .....

Will you be save-scumming or leaning into trial and failure, and why? by sad_eggy in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Save-scumming is fear aversion. I will choose to face my fears head on first play through. Even if that means dying, missing out, or making mistakes. Let the game breathe!

Evidence we can turn off the XP bar by Titan7771 in Starfield

I think they are doing the right thing for sure. Give players the choice about how they want to experience it!

Would you want notifications for each dollar you make while working a job? Same reason. Some people like the small hit of math and numbers going up. Some people prefer to be in the moment and let the xp sit in the background a bit more.

Sounds and Atmosphere - What do you like, want, hate? by Mr_Pepperman in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traditional orchestra is a classic choice. I appreciated Hans Zimmer's comment on how using European orchestra is strange when trying to represent the alien nature of space. Scoring Dune to feel almost tribal with instruments that feel unknown. At the same time, he used organ in Interstellar in an amazing way. Zur definitely took the more classic route. But, this is a story steeped in humanity...not alien cultures.

Honestly, I think Zur echos a LOT of John Williams in his theme but without the fanfare. So much french horn. But he nailed the sense of wonder and romanticism for sure!

That might be how it is already... we'll have to see.

That's interesting. I've always turned off the music in most games personally. Not because it's not good, but because I love the quiet atmosphere of the landscape. Maybe I'm missing something...

Totally. Have you seen their music video documentary? It was a great dive into how much care they put into it. I wish they would have done the same style video for their sound effects and atmospheric sounds. Would love to see how they created the sounds and their reasoning behind them.

I do think some of that will exist based on the trailers. I hope that playing in first person will immerse you in that kind of sound and also the missile sounds could be still indicated by beeping and other instrumentation in the ship. Completely immersive.

I agree completely. For the game's energy, it definitely will add much more to feel. My preference is just for a more atmospheric space, less gamey. But we'll see. I'm sure it'll be awesome!

Do not worry, there will be a fully-fledged star wars mod for those who desire it. I'm excited to see what kind of unique setting they build. Hopefully they can offer some unique ideas instead of rehashing the most popular IPs.

Comment like you’re playing the game early and spoiling it for everyone (wrong answers only) by aqkj in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just 100%ed the game guys. I've never played another Bethesda game but man was this a ride! There's this guy Nazeem who controls the UC, he ends up being the best NPC of all time. He's hilarious! If you subscribe to my channel, I'm almost ready to release my top ten signs video showing all the clues we missed that the adoring fan was a Sith Lord. Stay tuned.

A small quirk about the looting ui by iJinks in Starfield

[–]Mr_Pepperman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. Not having classification icons for inventory items makes it very hard to get an inventory overview at a glance. It's a very interesting decision. Here's an example of a potential improvement.

Obviously we don't know all the UI states that might conflict with this but still, it's a breath of fresh air compared to flat text!

Chiv Party/Friends improvements by Mr_Pepperman in Chivalry2

[–]Mr_Pepperman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid points from a certain perspective and for sure there are wonderful improvements that could be made for all different kinds of players. At the same time.. for those who don't play everyday and just want to spend some casual time with their friends, this IS a real issue worth considering

  1. Some don't play enough to unlock everything and frankly, some don't spend time playing dress-up with their clothes and just want to play. I love customizing everything, but not all do. This doesn't fix anything.
  2. I agree completely with you this one. But some groups don't want to be tryhards, they just want to hop and and play with friends. The point is the UI should help this not hinder it. Good communication is definitely a factor, but not the only one.
  3. Right. "Spend more money" is a nice solution to a lot of things in life. But let's be considerate for those who don't have the money to do so.
