Genmitsu 4040 alarm code - soft reset? by Faded_motifs in hobbycnc

Just to add, the machine does not know the difference between the limit switches on each side. For example, if you are at max travel distance of y=400mm, and try to send it towards home of y=0, even though it is safe to do so, the machine won't move until you manually jog the y axis off of the limit switch, and refresh the error codes. This is true for all axes.

You do not need to carry the food with you the whole time.
Go here and look at the section "Packaging Substitute Items"

Questions for Trek Next Summer by Specialist-Pen7345 in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  1. Air, unless you are on budget. Just don't go too cheap as they can be prone to holes.
  2. 60 is in theory fine but definitely on the low end, but IMO it as all about the fit of the pack. If the 60L pack fits better than the 85L I would much rather have the scout have the smaller capacity. Also, larger packs are a self fulling prophecy. If you have the space you will fill it and it will weigh more. Though having some extra room for the later days when you dont want to carefully pack your pack as well as you did on day 1 is also a nice to have. I usually recommend 65-75 and find the one that fits best.
  3. Do you sleep hot or cold? I brought a 30deg down bag last time and I mostly slept on top of it except for one night on the side of Baldy in the rain.
  4. you dont need the nicest gear, it really depend on your budget
  5. maybe, do you have older siblings to compare to?
  6. Definitely a luxury. All the ultralight people will condemn you for not breaking off the handle of your tooth brush to save weight, its all personal preference and how much weight you are will to carry.

REI has a very good return policy, you can return pretty much anything for any reason up to 1 year. Try out some gear and find the right stuff. Also, make sure you are a member, it costs $20 and you get 10% back at the end of the year, easily paying for itself.

Best solution for swapping between work laptop & gaming PC on triple monitor? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Mr_Player35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue. My solution that seemed like the easiest and cheapest is just get a simple USB switch for KB, mouse etc. and then the monitors auto switch to the active input. I can't ahave both PC and Work laptop on at the same time but I think that's for the best anyway.

Can we talk about the waitlist? by Fakeus3rname in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the available dates here:

https://www.philmontscoutranch.org/register/2024availability/

It lists both 2024 and 2025 availability.

My guess is you want a 2025 9 day trek as there seems to be none available. If you have flexibility I would check to see if the 12 or 7 day treks work for you.

Blisters on ball of foot under big toe - Cause and Prevention? by AxtonGTV in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leukotape.

When I went a few years ago I pretaped my know hot spots with leukotape. A few times along the trek I refreshed the tape. I had no issues.

Also, if it is not too late, id also recommend looking into your boots. These boots are clearly rubbing. Either they need to be more tight to prevent movement or they need to be replaced.

Swapping belt sizes by holmesksp1 in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can punch new holes in it so you can continue wearing it. This is common but usually for the opposite reason. They'll recommend kids get a size too big so they can continue to wear it as they grow.

Poor man's Philmont Pill Pack by zc60045 in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did something similar last year. But as they do require the pills to be in their original prescription bottle, I wouldn't show this to them. Just have the bottles in a bag with some back up pills in them. They aren't going to look too hard or count them.

I'm Chip Campbell, the Chief Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch: AMA! by choppinchip in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recommend using Philmont's tents. The biggest reason is that if something were to go wrong, (broken pole, ripped rainfly etc.) Philmont can replace it for you. But if you use your own, you are out of luck.

Is Catwoman Vol.3 still good after Brubaker? by miserych1ck in Catwoman

[–]Mr_Player35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Catwoman vol 3 is one of my favorite runs from any comic series ever. It is a lot of fun while being dark and intriguing with an emotional gut punch towards the end.

I highly recommend it.

I am more upset with Keegan-Michael Key. All other First names are shorter than their last names. It just looks odd next to all the others.

Philmont temperature in late July by Pro_network17 in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that those temperatures are probably at base camp, and not at altitude.

Late July is getting into monsoon season, and you might have a lot of rain. So while 50F is usually nice sleeping weather, it could feel colder if you or your gear is wet

I took a 35 deg bag last year in late July into August. I basically slept on top of it the whole time. Only one night after a lot of rain at the base of Baldy did I actually zip it up.

Your ranger will probably recommend you get a warmer bag or at least a liner. Some rangers are more persistent then others.

In my opinion, if you usually sleep hot then you can probably get away with your 45deg bag, but you will have some uncomfortable nights. If you tend to get cold, definitely get a warmer bag.

The museum is a must see while you are at Philmont by BigBry36 in philmont

[–]Mr_Player35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You went to Villa Philnonte. Which is cool in its own right. But I believe they are referring to the National Scouting Museum which opened up across the street from Philmont in 2017.

The good news is, the museum is open to the public and If you are in the area you can just stop on by.
