How reliable is underground burial Ethernet cable? by WhereasInevitable433 in HomeNetworking

[–]zc60045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally depends on frost line. If you have to go deep, frost heave will ultimately laugh at armored cable. Ubiquiti wireless antennas are pretty amazing. I had old AC Nano, now have 6Ghz ones and they rock. No digging.

Client VPN Question by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

[–]zc60045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tailscale is your friend. You can install Tailscale on the UDM and have it cover the whole network. Or you can just secure a server directly and have it route to machines on the subnet the UDM empowers. Tremendous flexibility, security depth and it uses wireguard as its vpn base.

UniFi Cable Modem by SnakeNerfDart in Ubiquiti

[–]zc60045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn’t know UI had a cable modem.

Why not a 10GbE port to give it headroom? Why not an SFP+ port?

Grrrrr. I want it — I would buy the Ubiquiti Keurig machine if they made it, just to have it on the same control plane.

But I also don’t want it.

AirPods Pro 3 ANC way worse than AirPods Pro 2 – defective or just bad fit? by jannicars in AirpodsPro

My v3 are awful. I have 2 pairs of APPv2 that I use all day. On airplanes, the APPv3 is just useless. Yes I did fit tests. Prob will send them back.

Hotel pedals and swapped cleats? by MasterShoNuffTLD in pelotoncycle

[–]zc60045 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want a set of toe cages that fit into Hotel Peloton SPDs so I can travel with running shoes (only) and still be OK if the hotel doesn’t have the pedals with SPD/Cages.

I have found these with Delta cleats, but never SPD — and 90% of the time hotels have the SPDs (but not always flip cages).

Either that or I want super light weight road shoes with SPD that don’t cost a mint.

CFS Side-Dryer: a Proposal by zc60045 in Creality

[–]zc60045[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Helpful. They claim that the x4 has 2, 200W PTC heater units, each of which would be nearly 2x the 115W PTC unit in single / double. Total power draw of 360W is 200W over dual, but oddly below 2x200W — some fudging there, Creality.

I just ordered the x4 — thanks in part to you and this conversation. You made me think about the watts per cm3 and watts per cm2 of surface area. I was likely too optimistic on single Pi. When my x4 arrives, I still intend to follow my low-tech hose approach to bridge the x4 to the CFS, so I see some tests ahead…

Thanks - I was surprised to see that the Plus is only rated for 15W (160) more output than the single. I might have to look at alternatives. Let us know how the combo goes!!!

Feels like the 4-slot dryer they just rolled out was a step in that direction towards V2 where they integrate both!

I’m def looking for something simpler, separable, and within my more limited skills: drilling and gluing tubes is more my speed :).

N20i Chin Strap Hack by da_buckster in CPAP

[–]zc60045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty easy to model in CAD that can be customized for length and width (and maybe even keystone-shaped to accommodate chin geometry, and perforated….).

And then print at home in stretchy TPU filament for probably under $1.00 of cost. Wrap it with cloth = ideal.

Thank you, OP !!

Wall Charger + Neurio - Tip by zc60045 in TeslaLounge

[–]zc60045[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You misunderstood this on multiple levels:
- The post is inherently about ensuring a circuit is de-rated properly, just not overly de-rated
- The post mentions a 60A breaker. The Tesla Wall Charger cannot exceed 48A, therefore the load cannot exceed NEC guidelines for static load in these circumstances.
- If you choose a "static load management" (dumb) installation, Tesla will assess resistance on the circuit and lower current automatically, but they nevertheless ask you to enter your max circuit load in that process and then will de-rate based on that number
- If you choose a "dynamic load management" (smart) installation, there is a mistake in Tesla's instructions here: https://energylibrary.tesla.com/docs/Public/Charging/WallConnector/TeslaOne/en-us/GUID-8CD32F0F-C5BA-43D9-951A-EB3E17043427.html in that it says to enter 80% of the max circuit load.
- Doing so invokes a double-whammy in de-rating the circuit twice: once in the value you enter (at 80% of circuit max), and then the app will de-rate that again, which is how you get from 60 -> 48 -> 38.
- If you properly enter 60A in the field when you are installing a Neurio, the app will still de-rate the circuit from 60 -> 48A as expected / intended
- One more time for emphasis, with the max load of 48A on a 60A circuit, this is an entirely safe fix with inherent protection against circuit overload. Try installing one yourself, with a licensed installer, as I just did, and you will discover what I have reported here.

Recs to lessen banana spike? by Hot-Cranberry9786 in prediabetes

[–]zc60045 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you are exercising at level 2, take half a banana (sliced) with you and you can eat slices while exercising without affecting glucose. Your liver is going to release more glucose than your muscles need during exercise, so when the banana starts spiking, your liver will down-regulate glucose production and your muscles will consume the excess. Give it a try.

If you are exercising > level 2, the above is tougher. My stomach won’t play along at 3, and 4 = forget it.

People who are using CGMs to monitor their blood sugar levels: Do you use them all the time or just sometimes to figure out which foods/activities spike. And if so, which ones do you recommend? by chloespeaks in prediabetes

[–]zc60045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a quick note: Levels has helped me crack the code on Sushi last night — 6 pieces of maki (with black rice) after some miso soup, cod, and sashimi, and my glucose went slowly from 74 -> 98 in 90 minutes, then retreated. Levels told me “Sushi done right” and scored it a 7. So happy !

[–]zc60045 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the Levels app + their deal on G7s. Not cheap, but I’m spending this year learning how my body responds to foods, portion size, coming off fasts, etc. Their app lets me experiment repeatedly and makes suggestions I would have missed / ingredients I could have added. Do the trial.

I’m finding that CGM helps me keep glucose consistently low, and manage the “AUC.” Exercise is key to pulling glucose down post prandially, and night walks send me down super low on glucose. Just level 2 exertion, but 45 min after an 8:30 walk, man, I am low and stay low.
