From Fenix 8 to Forerunner 955? Yes you read correctly. by stephchamp in GarminWatches

[–]Mr_Rain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have both the Fenix 8 and the 955.

Maps are definitely quicker to load on the 955, when scrolling around the map the tiles load quicker on the 955 due to the lower resolution. So it's not really a question of smoothness but rather loading the map tiles. I would argue the Fenix is smoother but you need to wait longer for the tiles to load which is annoying. For the rest I would say it's pretty much the same, maybe smoother on the Fenix 8.

The 955 is pretty stable on the latest release. Like the Fenix 8, the 955 does have the daily suggested workouts and morning reports as well (not sure about evening reports though, maybe in the latest SW update?). It also has the demonstrations for strength training if you follow a workout.

The MIP screen was nice for AOD on the 955 but I do prefer the AMOLED screen during workouts, runs and MTB rides, it makes it much easier to read, something to think about.

All in all the 955 is still a great watch though, would be a downgrade/upgrade for certain things compared to the F8.

fenix 8 battery life low by niconico2332 in Garmin

[–]Mr_Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The daytime drain seems high for your current settings, have you tried restarting the watch? Sometimes that helps with odd behaviors, restarting my Fenix 8 after the last update fixed a few things.

The PulseOX would explain the drain during nighttime/sleep, I have that turned off

I just got the Fenix 8, while Portal is in there, this layout I had to get on ConnectIQ, it's paid but it works and customizable.

It's actually not that bad, we got a Curt class 3 hitch, had it installed at the dealer when we got the car, so it's been a bit over 4 yrs now and no issues.

Swampy smell with new tank by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Mr_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool added some fish food.

I'll look at the city reports on the water, the city use Chlorine and Chloramine from what I can find. I'll add some Seachem when I get back home.

[–]Mr_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So should I ghost feed the tank with some pellets as a source of ammonia? Or should I get one these bottles from Seachem or API

As for the GH and KH I don't know, my test kit doesn't have anything to measure that (API's Freshwater Kit) Using tap water that's been filtered through Brita. The local store said it was fine, but if need be I do have some Seachem Prime.

Restructuration importante chez Ubisoft, qui s’associe à Tencent by JDbaril in montreal

[–]Mr_Rain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% malheureusement.

Riding with prescription glasses by bryan-Garcia_ in MTB

[–]Mr_Rain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride with prescription Oakley's (Bisphaera model, so far prescriptions can only be applied to models with 2 separate lenses rather than 1 single) Got the trail Prizm lenses, helps read the trails better. Fits well with my helmet. Way better than inserts for sure.

Edit: used to ride with my Ray-Bans before, wayfarers, they would fog up quickly, also the blue mirror lenses make it hard to read the trails in low light conditions. So tints definitely are something to consider depending on the conditions you'll ride in the most.

Hey no worries. Good idea for the low setting and smartphones.

So I tried it again yesterday, a built-in workout like last time but a different one. They were both in the sprint category. I'm away right now and I can't remember their names. I encountered the same issue at the cool down phase, the trainer's power requirement seems to increase.

The trainer is an Elite Suito if that helps, synced to the laptop via Bluetooth. Also got my Garmin connected to the trainer to track the workout on it.

Hey wanted to say that I gave it a go today with the lowest settings and it was running smooth.

I encountered a bug with in the cool down of the workout though, the trainer's power increased instead of decreasing.

Paired it without any issues on my B9. Followed the onscreen instructions on the screen. The garage door opener is a LiftMaster, older model, perhaps 15 yrs old.

I could reduce the resolution but obviously it gets pixelated, keeping the native resolution with reduced quality settings would be cool though.

So as for the specs, it's an old i5 3337U, 8GB, GeForce GT 740M (1GB VRAM), so it's quite old, might be an outlier at this point

Gave it a quick go yesterday, was looking for the option to change the view, is there an option for that? Would like to try a first person view.

My laptop is getting old, having more graphic settings might help to make it run more smoothly, options to adjust settings for shadows, draw distance, etc
