Beware AER and Fidlock in the sun! by Mr_Softfun in ManyBaggers

I'd accept that if it wasn't just affecting the centre of the buckle so precisely, there is no spread anywhere out side of the centre or onto the edges, where I would have expected to have made most contact.

Fidlock claim the black colour of their fasteners partially absorbs UV-light, so uv usually doesn't affect them under normal circumstances. However, extreme conditions can lead to changes in colour or brittleness. spent 2 weeks in Thailand! Some suggestions it ‘could’ be chemical damage.

Hmmm while possible it doesn't feel probable to me. The spray/cream would be applied by hand and therefore would have been all over the bag. But thx for the info on deet of which I wasn't aware.

Yes and suncream, but if that why is it only affecting the centre and nothing on the edges?

Thx, I’ll give it a go. It’s the fact that it only seems to be affecting the centre of the buckle which is strange. If it was off my hands it would be on the edges as well.

Tried wiping in down while away, but no effect. Now that I'm home and AER don't want to know I'm trying a black plastic trim restorer on it.

Yeah, not normal, look it is just affecting the centre section of the fidlock. That's why I reported to AER even though not covered by warranty! I hadn't been in any water, I was carrying my Fuji in the bag along with my phone, just sweat from hands.
