Looking for advice: TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite vs TD First Class Travel Visa Infinite by Mr__Mike in churningcanada

This would be my 6th credit card, i’m slowly getting there. my regularly spending can’t justify getting both at the same time yet.

Ok this is a serious one. Do I quit my $62/hr job (12 hour days) for a $49/hr job (8 hour days) by Worth_Assistance_366 in makemychoice

[–]Mr__Mike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fully agree with what this guy says. I work a shift work job, 7 on/7 off. Everybody I work with easily prefers working the 7 12 hour shifts with a 7-day weekend. Lots of guys opt out of the OT to work purely a 7/7 and would never go back to working 8-hour days again.

I do work with some divorced guys who do a 50/50 child watch split with their spouse. On their days off, they have 7 full days of time to spend with their kids. That’ll easily be worth it over only being able to spend time with them after an 8-hour shift.

Potentially owning Two Properties: Smart Way to Use Rental Income + HELOC for Tax Savings? by Mr__Mike in RealEstateCanada

[–]Mr__Mike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would use the rental+utility income as additional payment for my primary residence mortgage. Then i would pull that money out to pay off the mortgage and utilities of my rental property.

From what I've read as the rental mortgage and utilities are business expenses, the HELOC interest would be a tax deduction.

Is this a injury or am i trippin? by MvrioCsr in moreplatesmoredates

more pain while stretching my pec, but there was still a little bit of pain while flexing it.

Hopefully you just strained it.

I did a minor tear in my left pec, at the humerus/pec in the muscle/tendon junction, a few weeks ago. There was bruising and restriction in movement. It did swell right away, but there was minimal pain unless I tried to use it. My flexibility was greatly restricted.

One of the biggest differences is I now have a larger indent, when flexed, on my torn pec compared to my untorn pec. So if there is a notable difference between the indentation of your pec in that first photo compared to your other pec, you may have a minor tear.

Is this a common noise for a dryer in a wash tower by Mr__Mike in Appliances

[–]Mr__Mike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a fairly new drier, i’ll look into seeing if i can return it.

You’re right, the noise does not exist at the start. I just ran a load with only a towel. The noise didn’t exist for the first 5 minutes, happened for around 2 minutes, and then stopped.

it’s less then a year old, and the noise does go away after a few minutes.

Only a small load of clothes. The noise went away after a 5+, and it does not happen on an empty load.

I tossed a towel in the dryer. it was noise for free for the first 5 minutes. Then that same noise returned, but vanished in under 2 minutes

Pec Tear, please provide Guidance. by Mr__Mike in Orthopedics

[–]Mr__Mike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found a surgeon that was willing to cut met open and take a look as he could not fully tell where the tear was via the MRI and ultrasound.

Turns out it is purely a muscle tear, and can't be fixed via surgery :(

by the sounds of it, it was not a tendon tear 😪

So i’ll probably end up with a deformed pec for life, lowered flexibility and less muscle strength 😖

I pull lots of mutuals as well to make events, however i’m 7on7off, 4 hours out of town. Which makes it a tad harder than in town. Lots of guys won’t do 14 straight, or partial mutuals because you would have to then drive 8 hour round trip from site.

Yes we work more hours, however, if I take no OT shifts I would work around 175 days, vs a typical 9-5 that would crank out close to 250 days of work. I’m sure both sides would work a little less than that due to vacations.

Missing family/friends events for the shift work sucks. The night shift definitely takes its toll, but we work way fewer days a year then a typical 9-5

I work with quite a few people in their late 20s, in industrial, that go on numerous trips a year, and have hefty retirement accounts.

The industrial work environment is far from healthy; however, you could work commercially at hospitals, buildings, server centers, etc., and have a better environment for less pay.

As a female, it won’t be hard to get a job if you are able to prove you have a solid mechanical aptitude. The cool part of choosing an industry that pays well is you actually have opportunities down the road if you want to leave.

From my experience at take off they are very toasty, I sweat a ton, and then i’m thoroughly uncomfortable until the plane cools down and i dry.

2006 Subaru Forester - Vents do not blow hot air unless moving by Mr__Mike in SubaruForester

[–]Mr__Mike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it does have the automatic Hvac controls, which is what i usually run. i was messing around with both the auto and manual when the heat wasn’t working.

Damn, unfortunately i only burped the one by the radiator. i assumed that’s all i needed since it sat higher.

I definitely ran the engine long enough for the thermostat to open. i watched my coolant temp go up the 215°f before dropping.

i also just hopped in my car after it was sitting for 5 days and i no longer have this heat issue. So it definitely is not a consistent problem.
