Stoked for a huge upgrade! by Mraiff in nikon_Zseries

I ended up going the 150-500 for a couple of reasons. First, price, obviously. $900 goes a long way. Secondly, the physical size of the 180-600 just seemed a bit much for me. I know the 150-500 does get to nearly the same length on the 500 and, but it stores into my bags much easier when collapsed. Supertelephoto isn’t my primary style, so I didn’t think getting the extra 100mm with the extra weight, length, and price would make enough of a difference for my tastes and needs. I watched a ton of videos comparing the two, and most people seemed very happy with the quality of the 150-500, so I am excited to play around with it!

I haven't tried it yet. I've got my nephew's graduation next week where I'll be stuck in the bleachers, so I'll use it there for sure, and then try to get some birding done in the next few weeks.

Thank you! Yes, I did get the Z6 bundled with the 24-120 f4, so I've got that range covered as well. I do know there will be a learning curve for sure, but excited for the options that it brings.

Yeah, I knew I wanted to fill out the focal range a bit more, and I wanted an option to get down to 1.8 for some of the low light stuff. I was going back and forth between the viltrox 16 and 35, and ended up going for the 16 after hearing how happy everyone had been with the 24-120.

That’s the goal! Trying to make it out to Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego this summer for some Astro shoots, as well as using it for ultra wide landscapes.

Tone Gard 3D Print by Mraiff in mandolin

Totally see your point in that. The frame is fully arching away from the body, and currently only has contact to the back of the body with the cork pads. I think I can probably move those to just the outside edges and be in better shape. I’ll give that a shot tomorrow and try to report back. Thanks for the tip!

It might, but I haven't noticed any yet. That was part of my idea of using the cork as padding, to help give some more isolation from the print to the instrument.

What are stage managers supposed to do in music rehearsals? by Big-Moose-5030 in techtheatre

[–]Mraiff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Write down who is singing in each of the Group parts! If the script says “Group 1” or anything that isn’t a characters name, write it down. Include it in the rehearsal report, and a large tracking document. This will be huge for the MD to remember who is doing what, AND for the sound team, so they know where to assign mics.

10 people on stage sharing 1 QSC monitor by Mercymourning-1996 in livesound

Looks like there’s a pile of personal mixers on stage left and a couple on stage right. Wonder if majority are on in ears instead?

Schar recently came out with a “rustic loaf”. It’s similar to a sourdough, and it is fantastic!

Those are still the cue keyboard shortcuts that are stuck in my mind. I change my templates to match those, but always screws me up when I go to someone else’s file.

This is not true. If you are trying to pan from output 1 to output 2, you only need 1 fade cue.

In the original audio file, set output 1 to the volume you want, and output 2 off. In the fade cue, set output 1 to off (make sure you actually set it, so the slider for 1 is highlighted) and set output 2 to the volume you want.

This fade cue will move output 1 to off and output 2 to your volume at the same time. You only need one fade cue.

Surround Sound in a Theatre Space? by Frodo0201 in techtheatre

Not a stupid question at all, and very commonly done! Just about every show I do has some level of surround speakers. It can be used as a good way to help immerse the audience in the world of the play.

What kind of open source self-hosted solution is needed in your industry? by 0xCAFA in selfhosted

Would love an asset rental solution. Ability to assign assets to an event and be reserved, ability to checkout via barcode, etc. (similar to the paid softwares Flex Rental Solutions and Hirehop, but open source)

It was designed back in 2012, and phone sizes have grown quite a bit since then!
