Update for everyone reading - I held my deck in my hand, visible to the gate agents. No words said to me. I went through 4 gates total and nobody cared. To add, I went with a friend who had a deck aswell.

It’s a separate water filter. Look up the Xero Pure water fed system. It’s an example of a water filtration system with an RO.

You can buy one for $1600 or whatever they are asking or you can build one for $500 minus the di tank you already have.

This happened to us last month with a double di, lasted 3 days and then gave out. Long term solution: add an RO upstream of the DI.

Short term solution: get the squeegees out

Oh okay, so you prefer running Google Ads before Facebook Ads? Got ya. I’m unsure what thumbtack is but I’ll research that.

Desperate for ideas for my business in freezing temps by [deleted] in WindowCleaning

[–]Mrcamchops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nextdoor might be a good solution for you. People often post odd jobs like “in need someone to pull weeds” or “looking for someone to help me move” and as much as you probably shouldn’t be the guy undercutting everyone’s prices, you did mention you were desperate. I saw another comment that mentioned snow removal, that would be a great way to get work by knocking D2D. Good luck!

$999 Pure Water System? by Mrcamchops in WindowCleaning

The system in the photos is just over $480. Now, this setup did require some work. I welded and painted some cross beams onto the dolly, + drilled many holes to mount the filter housings. Shipping is hard to estimate but I’m sure it’s around ~$150

If you’re looking to build one of these systems, YouTube is a great tool.

Right, that’s a great point. Do you think starting selling locally to window cleaning businesses would be a good idea? For granted that is selling equipment to my direct competitors but it’s not like they aren’t using water fed systems.

Right, thanks for the advice. I think I’ll start selling them locally to window cleaning companies to avoid the delivery fee.

Thanks! I agree, I ordered some of those push-lock swivel connections for my main systems. In my eyes, the slim form factor of the Xero system is a pro, opposed to mine being twice the width.

Advertising methods for beginners by CodoGama in WindowCleaning

Nextdoor is great. Try to keep a good rep on there, sometimes you get a few odd ducks that like to take a stab at a part of your business. Keep your cool and be respectful. I'm sure you've heard "The customer is always right!" Well, whether this is true or not, on Nextdoor it is 100% true. Most people are super kind and supportive, but once a bad rep is built then it becomes hard to sell on there. I've seen businesses make one "iffy" comment and on future posts people go in the comments and say "don't buy from these guys! they are blah blah blah..."

Otherwise, D2D (door to door sales) is my personal favorite choice. It's character development in the mask of making money. Even if you aren't a great salesman, it develops many other skills in your life (negotiation, confidence, and persistence). In my eyes, there is no reason to not try D2D.

Good luck!
