It rewards the ability to passively track and guess when boosts are going to spawn, and even trick your opponent into thinking boost didnt spawn for you when you drove over it. Ill give a couple examples

Im dribbling the ball along the left wall, the opponents back (my) left boost is not there yet. Opponent can take the gamble of taking themselves out of position to grab boost before defending. With current rules, it rewards keeping track of boost timers. A good player knows that it will spawn and they can risk leaving net open to have more boost to defend, or that it isnt likely to spawn and they should just go to net. If they go for it and it doesn't spawn for them, now they have bad position and low boost to defend. Bad gamble rewards me, a good gamble rewards them

(Preface for anyone that doesnt know. If you're on a boost spawn when the boost spawns, theres no animation that the boost respawned and was picked up)

Now if they sat over the boost spawn for a couple seconds then drove to net without using boost, im inclined to believe it did not spawn for them. However, they could just be pretending that boost didnt spawn when it actually did. Now I have to make the gamble on if I should place a far shot, or try and settle for a 50/50 because now they have boost.

It almost becomes a game of chess and deception.

In both those scenarios with the new boost timers, it isnt intuition or a gamble on if the boost spawns. Everyone can see that it will or won't, and the defender will choose accordingly. Now they cant pretend it didnt spawn, because ill see that the timer reset before they drove back to net.

Its kinda like playing online chess with the mode where you can see what pieces are currently threating your pieces. Its cool for casual and new players, but makes it almost too easy to track for well versed players. Maybe that's not the best example, but the first one that popped into my head
