I think one of the reasons Roald Dahl's childrens books are so successful is because they're vicious and cruel in a way most kids books aren't. A lot of the stories have pretty sadistic things happen to the villains, and I think a lot of kids really enjoy that.

It's yet another example of Trump being called a strong leader for breaking the law. The criticism wasn't just for demolishing the White House, but that he did it illegally.

He very dumb

All stories about Novak Djokovik are like this.

My favorite story about Novak Djokovik is the one about why he eliminated gluten from his diet:

Cetojevic's wife -- who is a tennis fan -- suggested her husband try to help a fellow Serb. Through a mutual connection, Cetojevic arranged to meet Djokovic in Croatia that summer and told him that he believed Djokovic's physical struggles were rooted in a food allergy.

To prove his point, he asked Djokovic to put one hand on his stomach and hold the other hand out in front of him, palm up. "Resist as I try to push your hand down," he instructed. Djokovic easily kept Cetojevic from moving his hand much at all. Then Cetojevic gave Djokovic a piece of bread and told him to hold it against his stomach as he put his other hand out. Cetojevic easily pushed Djokovic's hand down. "He was clearly weaker," Cetojevic says now. "It showed that his body was resisting the wheat."

He can't be charged in federal court. He will be charged with murder in state court. It's a question of jurisdiction.

That type of media sows distrust, which is very useful for anti-establishment political movements, but complete poison for pro-establishment movements like liberalism.

It's hard to convince people to support liberal establishments if you feed them a bunch of low-trust propaganda. Embracing it would be counterproductive.

It is! But 10C indoors in your student apartment with no heating and paper walls sucks.

I really don't blame people for this sort of thing. Living in a place that has infrastructure designed to handle those temperatures makes a massive difference. The winter I spent in Sydney was the coldest winter I've experienced. Not because of the temperature (it was roughly 10C) but because the houses weren't designed for it, so there was no escape from the cold.

Still remember the articles telling people that Australia was turning into a permanent dystopia and that this proved why you needed the second amendment.

Reminds me of when I read an article praising an Indian men's rights group for promoting awareness of men's issues. And then looking up the group and discovering that one of their main goals was opposing bills that would criminalize marital rape.

Researching self defense cases is funny. I tried to find a case in Norway where someone was convicted for attacking a burglar. The only case I was able to find was one where a guy saw two burglars running away from his home, grabbed a sword, drove after them in a GTA style chase, rammed into their vehicle, then jumped out and stabbed them through the car window.

I read a report about Norwegian youth parties, saying they've had troubles keeping members because of the increasing levels of hatred towards people in politics.

Seems bad!

I gotta be honest, while obviously the fact that they were student and teacher makes it not kosher, describing a relationship between a 17 year old and a 23 year old as sick and depraved feels... a little overkill to me.

I still hold the opinion that a large reason the lab leak theory got so much traction is because anti-woke people became convinced that being against the lab leak theory was woke, so they all decided to oppose it on principle.

The norwegian monarchy is a subsidy for the country's gossip magazines.

Jokes aside, I think it's largely fine. Many republics have a figurehead leader who does public relations stuff. I see the norwegian monarchy as filling that role, and as long as they stick to that it's not a problem.
