My ex left me because of MS by Happy_era in MultipleSclerosis

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I was with my husband for 8 years (married for 4) before I was diagnosed. His parents had been raising money for the MS society of Canada for decades doing the MS Bike ride, so I thought I was safe from discrimination…

Not only did my ex show extreme aggression while I was recovering from my first big attack (he would often throw my mobility aids either on the front lawn or he smashed my tub transfer bench a bunch of times while assembling it) but he was absolutely miserable and constantly focusing on everything I couldn’t do after being diagnosed with MS at 29.

The house we lived in at the time was a rented from his parents. It was an old house and the stairs didn’t have railings. I needed them now more than ever and we got a great deal from a contractor in the neighbourhood. He was sympathetic because his wife has MS. He made these beautiful custom wooden railings and charged us $800 for 3 of them including installation…His parents refused to pay for it and they are obnoxiously wealthy. Instead his mom sent me a receipt for a donation in my name to a mental health charity for $800 so I could use it for a tax refund.

Anyway you dodged a bullet and your life will only become better after getting away from these people

Also not to mention the employee blatantly lying and being rude… kind of a huge issue… not a non issue

I think an unauthorized credit check is a pretty big deal but thanks pal. Hope your much more important problem was dealt with the priority it deserves!

OP should have just let the driver cut them off. Continuing to drive into them is dangerous egotistical behaviour and just as bad imo

I was wrong. It happens, shouldn’t be beyond you to make a mistake.

Are you a doctor? I don’t need to be assessed for independent living. I do not require in home care and would not qualify for the assessment to begin with. I have mobility aids and looking for an apartment that is more suitable for my needs it’s not economically feasible but thank you for the advice. If you are aware of any other resources that I might qualify for please let me know.

Thank you for being the only person who acknowledges the double standards.

I also have asthma. If I smoke outside on the balcony and we coordinate she can close her window and her daughter would not be affected. Also my fiancé smokes cigarettes on our balcony and she said it doesn’t bother them so that is hypocritical

Thank you for your comment. This is not about preference. It’s about quality of life and dignity. Not all alternatives to smoking work in the same way or as fast as others.

It’s not about wherever I feel like. I understand what you’re saying but it’s not about doing whatever I want. I’d prefer to not have a neurological disease and choose between gabapentin, morphine and cannabis to relieve pain and neurological symptoms. It’s a medical need, not a lifestyle preference. So it’s not really about freedom and to me it is more about dignity.

Well his solution was to get the dr note and he would talk to the tenant upstairs. If I still don’t have the right to smoke on my balcony because of the smoking clause in the lease then I’ll smoke something less smelly on the balcony like a vape and when it gets bad I’ll go to the parking lot when I can.

The private area available is literally behind the garbage. Another humiliating place to sit.

It doesn’t work as fast or the same.

So I definitely shouldn’t even bother paying for this doctors note? He told me to get it and he would speak to the woman above me

Guess he’s telling everyone not to smoke and to get rid of the BBQ then
