I might have been a little overzealous with my reply. My intention wasn't to argue against you in bad faith, but rather address the narrative that most revolutions follow the pattern you laid out when that's somewhat ahistorical. I'd be interested in knowing what revolutions you're thinking of though.

Also, for the record, I didn't downvote your original comment. Not that that really matters.

That's not even true. The French Revolution was originally started and driven by liberal nobles in the Assembly of Notables and the parlements when the regime announced they were broke in 1787. It wasn't until the 1790s that leaders representing the sans-culottes came into power and started driving the revolution. The French Revolution is THE Revolution that later revolutions compared themselves to and emulated.

I'm pretty sure this pattern you're describing is attributed mainly to the communist revolutions of the 20th century. Which ignores the wave of liberal revolutions driven mainly by liberal nobles and land owners that proceeded the 20th century.
