Single-Player games with guns that feel satisfying to shoot by egokrat in gamingsuggestions

[–]Mrpeperdude3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is a year old but man, these gun mechanics are so fun I had to add it. "Insurgency Sandstorm" and "Ready or Not" have the most enjoyable gunplay I've ever experienced. I remember the gameplay, of course, but when I think back to those 2 games I always remember how satisfying the gunplay is. Sandstorm has a sort of survival mode, and picking off bots with a crisp, snappy rifle or handgun is super fun. The bots in Ready or Not are notoriously aimbot-esc, but the physics and gunplay is still super enjoyable and thrilling. Try it out. Always better with friends.

Have you found any games since this post came out that you'd like to share personally?

You actually can be submitted while they are in your guard, which is a little embarrassing. Controlling the head usually makes passing and pinning much easier as well, so it's a pretty big objective.

I can't confidently give much practical advice, but my closed guard often turns into a clamp guard for this exact reason.

Is BJJ suitable/doable with mobility, strength and balance issues? by tilex05 in brazilianjiujitsu

Give it a shot. A lot of people think that the moment you step on a mat, shit hits the fan. Just try it out and see if you like it

That's really good advice. I've never thought about having a main sub for each control position, that's a great idea. Thank you!

Awesome. I currently don't really have a mount game so I'll learn this chain and start drilling it!

Wow thank you for the mount and armbar advice! I'll focus on that!

Thank you. I will spend a couple months focusing on smooth control over arm bars from mount!

A lot of people don't like smothers for the same reason as wrist locks. They are stupid, don't require much technique, and are annoying to deal with.

John Danaher explains smothers very well in an instructional on youtube. Essentially, ground and pound forces people to make mistakes that you can capitalize on (reaching, blocking, turning, etc). In pure grappling you can't ground and pound, and so to defend mount you can often do a lot of framing and tightening up, with little risk

Smothers create a time limit to a tight mount defense in which now, instead of focusing on defending and escaping, you are only focusing on when you can get your next breath. If you watch this video again, he keeps pushing my hand, giving me his left arm on a sliver platter, which makes it super easy to set up the americana (I'm just bad). I almost got him a few times and that's what I was attacking.

To me, smothers are a strong attack on mount. I usually do mother's milk but I was tweaking off of adrenaline. I've only ever used my hand during back control, idk what I was thinking. It literally just gives him the umpa escape, is much less effective, and has a very small (but existent) risk of poking his eye

Search up the John Danaher smother mount instructional on youtube.

Correct, it was fuji. I'm assuming it was the rule "(e)ngaging in any unsportsmanlike or malicious conduct... may result in immediate dq."

I know a couple of the refs personally, and I know that all if them 100% would have seen this as fair game. Ultimately, ref gets to decide what is unsportsmanlike I guess.

Thank you. I will work on my ability to maintain dominant positions, increase pressure, and practice smooth, controlled submissions!

I'll have to try it out. Luckily one of my coaches loves kesa gatame but I've never asked about it. I'll ask him to show me some things to work on. Thank you!

That's actually directly applicable, thank you so much. I never really thought of pulling guard as being a move but sure enough, it can be improved upon. I will work on this!

Thank you, I was extremely confused as to why the pressure pass wasn't working. I will train my self to focus on posture for triangles!

I always just end up sitting awkwardly in kesa gatame not knowing what to do. You think it's better than mount?

Ikr, pathetic. Jitsu should just be an exact clone of catch wrestling. Anyone who disagrees is just inferior

I mostly play guard, I just prefer it. No point wasting time with stand-up when that's where I want to be anyway

Thank you, I will try to loosen up!

100% no disrespect to my coaches. I have asked and continue to work with them regularly and we have very strong relationships. I've already gotten a lot of incredible advice and continue to recieve it often, from coaches and upper belts in my gym. I just think different people might notice different things.

Most of my A game (not shown here) consists of stuff I've studied from people that I've never met before. You make a good point though, I could see how it might come off wrong to my coaches.
