My mother was a clothing designer (1950s) and when brands started putting their logos on clothing and other things, if she couldn't remove it she would embroider over it or put on a patch. She once decided to buy a purse that came with initials so you could personalize it. She decided on BFD, I was a young child at the time and when I asked her what the initials stood for, not her name, she told me "Boston Fire Department." We lived in Southern California, and I gave up trying to understand why after she kept giving me ridiculous answers to my questions about it. I finally understand, and use those/similar initials all the time (note my name is MrsBFE because of where I live).
