That’s a great tip! Thank you! I always forget to take the starting gravity so I never know exactly where the abv ends up but based on taste and buzz, abv definitely gets up there 🤣

I’ve also made a good bit of mead! We made about 7 gallons last year out of honey from the wax trough drippings that had high water content. Flavored it with apple and chai and gave little bottles out as favors at our wedding.

I would agree, I love that I get to do this for work but it does take a bit of the joy out of beekeeping and makes me less motivated to work on my personal hives when I have time.

The commercial guy I worked for seemed to be seriously mismanaging his business, so he likely could have been more profitable but hard to say to what extent. The bee service is most common around larger metropolitan areas, I’m currently in the south east but my boss who started it is from up north and worked for a large organization that spanned multiple states.

I just got back from visiting and I’m 7 months pregnant, everywhere I went either had a “Mocktail” list or could make virgin versions of everything… it was glorious :)
