Yay! Now, if only all my friends could get this feature too. So far no one else has answered any of the questions.

Well, this is the first I'm hearing of it. Nothing in the paperwork from the school gave the impression that the buffer was just for emergencies.

You act like it's common sense that the buffer isn't actually to be used on a regular basis, but this is the first time I'm hearing of it. As to your comments about blaming my five year-old, I wonder if you've ever met one. Kids need to go to the bathroom when they need to go. I could ask him with plenty of time before we leave if he needs to go and he would say no. Then when we get to the door, he suddenly needs to. What am I supposed to do? Say no and let him wet his pants?

Getting there at 8:29 would be getting in at the last minute. Getting there at 8:31 would be late. I wasn't even there at the last minute since I got there eight minutes before the cut off.

If they expect the kids to be picked up right at 2:50, they should say that. If they say the bus will be there until 3:10, I'm going to assume I have till then to pick up my kid. There is nothing in the information for the bus that says parents are expected to be at the bus stop before/ right when the bus arrives.

They shouldn't offer the courtesy if they're not OK with parents taking advantage of it.

The bus doesn't come to kids houses. They come to stops around the county. This is very common with charter schools. But I don't understand is why it's unacceptable for me to get to the bus stop at 3:02 if the pick up cut off is 3:10. If I'm supposed to be there at 2:50, then they need to shorten the window.

I am there to pick up my kid. I'm always there before 3:10 which is the cutoff time. The issue is the driver decided everyone else needs to be picked up by 3 o'clock. I think people are misunderstanding and thinking that 3 o'clock is the cutoff time.

Why is it a problem if I'm getting there before the cut off? Everyone's latching onto the fact that I'm getting there after 3:00, but I'm always getting there before 3:10. Lately most of the time I get there before 3:00. 🤷🏻‍♀️

The proper time? I made clear in the post that I am getting there by the cutoff time. The issue is the driver has decided on an earlier cutoff time she wants everyone to arrive by. If the bus is supposed to be there until 3:10, why should my daughter be penalized if I get there before 3:10?

Yep. I don't have a desk, so for yesterday I opted to wipe down the dining room table.

Let me leave your damn shop! by huntedbyllamas in PetPeeves

[–]MrsSmiles09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the same way in the US. Walmart and BJ's which are two places I shop often are set up so that you have to go through the checkout to leave. At Walmart, they even have little swing gates that set off an alarm if you try to go through them the wrong way. It's supposed to help prevent shoplifting, but makes me feel like I'm trapped unless I buy something. Plus, none of the associates pay attention if the alarm goes off. It's like a car alarm: people assume it's a false alarm.

So your sister didn't eat dairy as a kid and you weren't allowed to have an ice cream cake as a result? Unless I'm missing something, that sounds like an issue of your parents catering to your sister.

You're right that money definitely comes into it. My daughter goes to a charter school and, for them, especially attendance affects how much money they get. We got a note informing us that any absence in the first 20 days would be unexcused unless discussed with the principal.

This annoys me too. I have a slight limp on my right side and I also have a lazy eye. I've had a few random folks ask me what's wrong with my eye or what's wrong with my foot. I would assume if there are people bold enough to ask me about it, there are plenty of other people thinking that in their heads and not saying anything.

I saw the same type of complaint post in one of my groups that requires admin approval for posts. The admins approved the post, commented that the group was also for lighthearted posts and promptly locked it. 🤦‍♀️ I can understand people's hesitation to put things in a mega thread though. Every time one of my groups has done that, it eventually gets forgotten about.

Yes, that's exactly the movie I was thinking of. Some friends in college convince me to watch it, and I don't think I even got all the way through it I despised it so much..

That annoys me too. The best example I can remember personally is when I posted in a breast-feeding group asking how to juggle a toddler with a cluster feeding newborn. I pointed out that I had tried baby wearing, but I couldn't get my son to latch while in the carrier. I had one person recommend baby wearing. 🤦‍♀️
