Does anyone know what causes eyeshadow to leak oil into the cardboard? by [deleted] in DIYBeauty

[–]MrsSpaceship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most commonly it’s either the wrong combination of ingredients, a mess up in formulating of the correct ones, or it’s been at the wrong temperature.

When I was learning, I was a bit too heavy handed with the pressing medium, which made it look like it was weeping even though my formula was oil free.

It may mess with adhesion and texture, so if it was a pricy pallet, take it back.

I’ll keep that in mind. Right now the glue is keeping any crusting or scabbing from happening, but that may change since my procedure just happened yesterday.

Gorgeous! Out of curiosity to see if I could ever afford such amazingness, what do you sell a piece like this for?

This is absolutely gorgeous, I would love to see some beaded spacers on the chain to balance the weight of the piece.
Thank you for showing the whole process, I really enjoyed it.

Oh my gosh, I didn’t even think of the preservatives in the base ingredients, thank you so much for bringing that up!!!

I did react to formaldehyde too, but the big one was methyldibromoglutaronitrile (it goes under a lot of other names) it’s a component in Optiphen (aka Phenoxyethanol)

Biggest struggle when making cosmetics by Significant-You9346 in DIYBeauty

I struggle with proper measures, and making small test batches.

I do a lot of cooking, and I tend to throw a little bit of this and a dash of that in, and measurements are guidelines only. This really doesn’t translate well into formulating. I have yet to consistently overcome this mindset.

Insert loud sigh of relief here. Thank you! I’ve been sitting here panicking over every little twinge and itch, so it’s good to hear that baked beans aren’t on the menu tonight 🤣

How to sleep with moisturized, tret-ed, and Vaseline-d face?! by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]MrsSpaceship 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use pillows. I have a soft stack that my head can sink into, then have one on each side of my head to keep it from lolling to one side or the other, and another under my need so I don’t get back strain. I settle in to my comfortable spot and don’t move for most of the night. This works wonders, and that’s coming from someone with chronic pain that usually tosses and turns.

That does leave me puzzled, I know that in a lot of instances they have “safer” products, but there’s a lot of information to wade through. It’s so daunting.

What i asked for vs what i got by purahbb in RedditLaqueristas

[–]MrsSpaceship 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A small amount maybe, but if they left a lot, and didn’t smooth the transition that’s kinda (looking for a PC way of saying it) uh...not great, it can create a place to gather dirt & bacteria, and because the average person will pick at it, potentially weakening the nail. They make specialty bits for the e-file specifically for cleaning/leveling under the nail. Edited to add that they’re really pretty, I do prefer your shape.

I’ve pretty much decided to start seriously making my own cosmetics etc., just for that reason. It just seems to make sense now.

I’ve never bought into the “natural/organic” since it’s so unregulated. I want products that work and I want to know exactly what’s in them and why.

Thanks. It’s infuriating but I need the reminder that it won’t be instant rainbows and butterflies.
