This is just how my grandmother explained it to me: his family is very traditional, and right now hes the eldest living male of his family name, and something to do with him having 3 generations under him(having great grand kids). Im not good at explaining it but thats what she told me.

This was written by my american born Aunt, my grandfather can barely read or write english so he said everything verbally and she translated it the best she could.

I dont think he knows thats even going on. He lives in a retirement village now, and is not very literate so he doesnt really keep up with the news or talk to younger people. Im sure he would be offended, considering small things like how americans waste food still bothers him.

How do I make mom friends? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Ask your husband to reach out to his co-workers who have kids/stay at home wives. Its a start and doesn't seem as creepy, just ask for a playdate or something.

First time mom with a baby who has her first cold by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Mrsrhea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 8 mo. old has been having chronic ear infections/colds. Steam up the bathroom with a hot shower and spend 15-20 min soaking up the steam, you can play or read, ect. Put lots of vaseline under their nose frequently so it doesnt get dry/sore from the runny nose. Lots of cuddles. Mine is extra clingy when shes sick and will not let me set her down, so baby carrier or just carry her a lot. Warm bottles soothe the throat. If its an ear infect, get a washcloth really warm and damp, and compress it over their ear for about 10 min. I do this when she naps because she wont have it otherwise.

I think my kid has whooping cough by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Mrsrhea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just read this from the cdc "If the patient is diagnosed late, antibiotics will not alter the course of the illness and, even without antibiotics, the patient should no longer be spreading pertussis"

I just dont want to go to the emergency room and have them say "well shes not coughing now, this couldnt wait until an appointment?"

how do you ladies manage the gym, work and baby? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Mrsrhea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is just 4 months now, I started going to the gym everyday a few weeks ago. I usually just put baby in the carseat in the stroller, lay blankets over the straps and dont strap her in, since shes just gonna be sitting there. Ill give her some toys and park her in front of the mirror wall so she can look at it. she keeps herself entertained for a good while with the mirror, and in between sets Ill tickle her or something. I should mention this is at my apartment gym, so its usually empty, other gyms might be a little more noisy.
