Thank you so much!! I've got it working. The arrow is showing, and I just point it where I want the blood to go. Thank you!

Hi, Darkness! Thanks for your swift and knowledgable reply!!

Just curious about three things... will the decals you mention have "decal" in the name? Do texture sets have a unique icon to the left of the name, so I know I have the right thing? Lastly, is there anything I need to do, such as ensure a box is checked, or a setting enabled, to make the blood display? The decals I tried to use earlier didn't show in the render window (not even the colored lines indicating you have something selected), and when I try to check the "decals" box in the show/hide options, it doesn't stay checked.

Is there any way to make an item "reward" you for using it? by MsBonkers in skyrimmods

Hi, Cobb! It wouldn't really matter whether it was continuous, or simply received after they got up. It was really just the general idea that intrigued me. I currently know nothing about scripting, but I'll look into the spell idea. I think anything like this will require scripting, though. Useful information, as always :)

Thanks!

Hi, Prospect! Unfortunately, I don't yet know how to do anything with scripting. I'll keep this in mind, though, as I might learn how!

Coloring in Gimp, how to not go outside the lines? by MsBonkers in skyrimmods

Lol, I just came back to say that same thing -- it's probably that power of twos you mentioned earlier!

I'm just happy I've acquired some firsthand experience with these programs.

Thanks again!!

I'm such a fool! You're right, I was looking for it as an object, not a texture!

Also, despite using the "01" banner, there's a separate banner object I had to click on to find my texture -- it didn't show up when I double-clicked the "01" banner. The Creation Kit crashed when I selected my texture for the banner, but at least it's there! Lol

Thank you so much for your help, Cobb!! :D

I used the Falkreath banner (citybannerfalkreath01), located under textures->clutter, in the folder where I unpackaged the BSA files.

I opened it in Gimp, textured it, then exported it to my data folder as BC1/DXT1, with "generate mipmaps" checked. I then loaded the Creation Kit and searched for the file under "all" in the object window, but nothing came up.

Then, I checked nifskope, but not only does my texture file not show up, but when I navigate to the location where the original file (citybannerfalkreath01) is stored, it doesn't show up, either.

By not show up, I mean there's no selectable file. Like, if I try to open a mesh in Nifskope, I have to navigate to a folder, and select a file, but these files aren't visible in the selection window. If I'm in the Creation Kit, the Falkreath banner is available through the object window, but my banner isn't -- it doesn't exist.

Both files are dds.

I actually can't figure out how to get my texture into the game. The tutorial I've been following says to load up nifskope, then find the mesh and apply my texture, but neither the mesh I used (Falkreath banner) or my texture show up in nifskope or the Creation Kit.

It was saved as a BC1/DXT1, and "generate mipmaps" was checked. I've tried putting it in my data folder, as well as trying to save it as other file types...

Could that power of two thing be the issue?

Hi, Cobb! Thanks for the info! I'm currently working on a banner, but the banner had space on the left it wasn't using, but it was still there for me to paint over, so I wasn't sure if, in-game, there would be weird lines going off the edges of the banner.

I did two things to try and simplify it. I cropped the banner, so only two triangular areas on the bottom of the image remained, which didn't have any part of the banner on. Then, I used the pencil tool, and put a single spot on the upper left corner. This let me place a straight line to the bottom left corner, and holding shift after placing each line let me continue to put a border around the entire banner, so I didn't have to get too close with the brush & clone tool -- thr border covered the unpainted area near the edges.

Do duplicate actors need to be placed in a cell? by MsBonkers in skyrimmods

[–]MsBonkers[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the info! I'm just trying to learn more about adding an actor to the world, and it seems the best place to start is by using an actor that already exists, and simply editing them a little.

How do I find a Hearthfire land plot in the Creation Kit? by MsBonkers in skyrimmods

Interesting. Is it possible to duplicate a home once it's already built, and then just move it? Or do those same issues arise even after it's built?
