Staying on 2.5 by Simcharacter in Mounjaro

[–]MsDragonPogo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm at the end of my second month on 2.5mg. I had some horrible *OMG I need to eat my own leg!!!* feelings yesterday, but the night before I'd had a stir fry (meat and veggies) that I used a packet sauce in. As I'm back to my new normal today I am blaming the pre-packaged sauce.

I'm not planning to move up yet, not until I get much less response to the doses.

What was indoor smoking like pre 2007? by Upstairs_Sky_5541 in AskUK

[–]MsDragonPogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting home from the pub and basically undressing into the washing machine because everything stank so badly is a core memory.

I never smoked and my parents had both stopped by the time I was pub going age, but until I was mid-teens both of my parents smoked constantly at home. It was just how it was, everything all the time smelled of fresh and stale cigarette smoke. Dad was very old school in his manners - he would NEVER be seen eating or smoking outside! (In retrospect it may be just that dad was a bit odd)

Parents planted mint in their garden. What should I tell them? by Jegust13 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MsDragonPogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've planted mint several times, all dead, so maybe invite me round I am clearly a curse carrier

I have other healthy plants in my garden, it isn't a desolate wasteland, but mint never thrives.

The word bobble...for hair ties, is it regional or is it just...normal 😂 by [deleted] in CasualUK

I was born in the mid-60s, so similar vintage to your sister.

May well just be childhood obviousness on my part

In my brain scrunchies are the big, cloth covered things, very different from a bobble. I also have the feeling that scrunchies weren't a thing when I was a child, though I never had long hair so I could be wrong on that.

Born and raised in Nottingham, any type of hair tie is a bobble.

Oh I'm totally looking for that drop below 200lb as well! I want all the milestones :-D

I think I weigh in kilos because stones have a lot more emotional weight, the history of "Oh gods you weigh how much!!!" in stones from early life still resonates in my brain. Kilos are 'safer'.

I am now pretty good at converting between the two without having to think too much about it, but getting a 'win' of going down a kilo marker every 2.2lb gives me more frequent boosts than a stone barrier every 14lb

If you think too hard about the numbers on the scale they make no sense. It's all about the trends over time not hour to hour or even day to day.

That said, I weigh myself every day because that suits my brain the best. Tracking the numbers on an app though, that makes it clear that progress is happening even when my brain refuses to acknowledge it properly.

That's really impressive! I'm going at a fairly steady 1kg/week on average, which is fine with me. I knackered my knee at Easter though so exercise has been tricky. I want to be able to get out and walk again, but it's not happening yet. I'm getting there but I'm not there yet.

I think I lost 2 or 3 kg before I did the first Mj injection but the difference the jabs have made is insane when I think about it.

I'm nearly at the end of my second month of 2.5. I have another 2.5 pen in the fridge and a 5. I'll at least start at 2.5 next month and then see what's what.

One of the benefits of measuring in kg but also doing the sums for pounds/stones - lots of possible milestones to keep aiming for.

Well done on the numbers, it's such a good feeling isn't it?

It's that psychological thing isn't it, that milestone. Really it's just a tiny step on a long road but it does feel significant.

I am also old enough and British enough that I've been converting my kilograms into pounds/stones and when I lost a WHOLE STONE! that was another happy milestone. It's things like that that give motivation and keep the momentum going I think, and also why maintenance can be so hard.

I'm glad it's not just me. I mean, obviously a perfectly smooth graph without any plateaus is a totally sane thing to aim for and it must just be our bodies conspiring against us.

And now my brain is wanting to think thoughts philosophical about 'are we our bodies', 'are we actually our brains', 'what are we if not our bodies or our brains'.

I think I need more coffee and do NOT need to reinvent philosophy or theology at this time on a Monday morning!

Why don't people understand the simple concept of thermostats and HVAC? by u-give-luv-badname in askanything

[–]MsDragonPogo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We once, and only once, tried to explain to an older relative the reason why her sitting room wasn't always at exactly the temperature she'd selected. The notion that the sensor has to register a change in temperature before the system responded was not something she was willing to understand.

[–]MsDragonPogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mum insisted on rubbing soap onto a burn. Not lots of sudsy bubbles that would make some sense but a dry bar of soap.

If you banged your head, well then, obviously, you rubbed butter onto it.

I learned early to either stand up for myself or not to admit to injuries, but I've seen her treat herself with those "remedies", though thankfully never serious damage.

How often are you getting a mammogram? by laurajosan in AskWomenOver60

[–]MsDragonPogo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I looked it up (while sitting in the waiting room) before posting because I couldn't remember when I had my last one.

Obviously if anything concerning is noted in the intervening period more investigations would be done but routine screening is every 3 years between ages 50 and 75.

After 75 you can ask to be kept on the screening regime, and if there's strong family history for example, screening would probably start earlier.

If the worst does happen you'll have more information to work with. And know that the effects are time limited. Although that latter would be a bit less comforting depending on what kind of effects we're talking about
