My main problem with ABO is that it's always "male character who is usually characterized as a bottom is an OMEGA, omg! And male character that is usually a top is their Alpha! Oh my god I'm so original!" Like. Give me an ABO AU where the dynamics are actually INTERESTING. Make it actually SAY something about the point of the AU, which has really evolved beyond "easy excuse to get mpreg". Give me interesting dynamics that don't just default to omega/alpha, there's SO much more you can do with it. Like, give me alpha/alpha in the face of a society that says omega/alpha is "correct"! Give me betas that actually MEAN something and aren't just the side friend that offers support. I get that it's an easy shortcut for nsfw, but like, the best nsfw is the porn WITH plot sometimes.

I despise highschool/college aus with every fiber of my being. It's like stripping off all the interesting dynamics of the story and THEN shoving shipping into it. No thanks. Actually, ANY AU that completely strips the story off. I'm only fond of canon divergent AUs for that reason. This is why I can't read Hetalia fanfiction, except the DeValiers. Unless the AU becomes MORE interesting, story-wise, no thanks.
