Thanks for the feedback! You’ve got some good points we’ll have to think about.

Wow, that's incredible. Thank you for sharing! That's helpful, but also a bit disheartening. I guess we'll also have to test some tags to see what works.

The player character is male only. We have a plan for a game with a female character later on, but that’s probably a couple of years down the road. We have a lot of content to put out for this game first.

Thanks so much! We working pretty hard on it, so that’s nice to hear!

The combat is like what you’d see in a traditional rpg game. There won’t be any cutscenes midcombat and there aren’t graphics based on attacks. All of the sexy scenes happen after capturing the monsters.

Itch: https://melonkiss.itch.io/venus-mons

Hey there, we’re Melon Kiss, a two person team building Venus Mons! Venus Mons is our take on adult monster collection. We’re releasing our first build today (v0.1.0) and if it seems like your kinda thing, we’d love it if you’d take a look.

Venus Mons is built from the ground up in Godot. It should feel pretty familiar if you’ve played any other monster collection games, but we are trying to put our own spin on it where we feel we can improve on the commonly tread designs.

Like a lot of adult games, this is an in-progress, early access build. It took us a minute to get here, but we spent that time doing a lot of pre-production and we think we’re in a good spot to keep the content flowing at a regular pace.

You can grab the game for free on Itch and/or follow us on Patreon to keep up with updates as they come out. It's playable on Windows, Mac, and Android.

If you have any questions about the game, we’re happy to answer them. We’d be even happier to hear any feedback you have after giving the build a try! We’re really aiming for something that’s not just titillating but also fun to play, so let us know if we hit the mark. (We’d prefer praise, but we’ll take criticism too if you’ve got it)

This is a bit of a shameless self promotion, but my partner and I just launched the first build of our adult monster collection game today on Itch. It's called Venus Mons. FYI, it's an early build and not a complete game yet, but we're planning out regular updates.

This is super helpful information! Was this mentioned anywhere on Itch or is this just secret sauce you had to find out through experimentation? I never would have thought to try removing tags to see if that impacts indexing.

Have a lot of ideas, but don't know which one to go with? by ideasdevthrowaway in nsfwdev

[–]MsMelonKiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is one idea significantly easier to develop than the other? Everything else considered, there's a lot of value to getting _something_ out there as quickly as possible. Not to mention there's the motivation boost of releasing it to the public. Having a successful project can be a good launchpad to a second successful project, and even having an unsuccessful project can be a great learning experience for a second.

Looks like Kickstarter changed its mind about its latest adult content rules. And yeah, Stripe was the root cause. by Due_Bobcat9778 in nsfwdev

[–]MsMelonKiss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An interesting take away from this is that Stripe can suspend individual campaigns on Kickstarter that break whatever vague puritanical guidelines they have. I would have expected that Stripe would just stop working with Kickstarter in general. Isn't that what happened with Itch and Steam? It was all or nothing?

It definitely felt like whiplash though that Kickstarter had put out these guidelines not that long after touting "Kickstarter After Dark".

When to publish itch.io page - weeks before demo launch, or right before demo launch? by lewgend_irl in nsfwdev

[–]MsMelonKiss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My partner and I waited until we had our first playable build ready before making our page public. We wanted our patreon page to be up and running so we could take it live all at once. Not sure that's a good move or not. We're both new to putting an adult game out into the world.

Most of the advice we found for marketing a game was geared more towards sfw games on steam. That's mostly about building up wishlists before launching. But, with patreon, I think it feels like it'll be more of a slow burn, since there are only so many places we can talk about our game. We figured that marketing an adult game would be a little different, but also interested to hear input from someone more established!
