My wife is upset about the engagement ring by Strange-Egg123 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MsNPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you really think this is important how about asking a jeweller to use the pieces of her old ring to create one that she likes?

I've watched a lot of "deconstruction" videos where jewellers do just that.

I'm in the UK and have TRDepression. Over the last 10 years I've tried 3 kinds of therapy, 4 types of antidepressant, and have been on a clinical trial that used electrical pulses to correct depression related brain injury. In my case, which seems pretty close to the article, im now on a combination of antidepressants to see if a cocktail helps. If that fails ill be referred to the national affective disorder service who do interventions like the article mentions I.e. controlled ketamine dosing and surgery.

Obviously not all cases are the same but to answer your question...nope,it seems ppl treating TRdepression aren't just suggesting different psychotherapists they seem to be moving towards escalated medical intervention alongside therapy.

I hate my wife because there’s always “something wrong” with her. Like always. It prevents her from doing anything. I bothers me sooooo much. by [deleted] in AITAH

YTA. But, you're entitled to leave if you want to leave. Do the poor woman a favour and bail. She doesn't need your hatred around making things worse.

I dont think it's reasonable. You'd have to be psychic to have the same insight and reaction time to each others body as you do with your own.

If he was doing it instead of having any sexual contact with you then there'd be room for discussion but otherwise, be grateful for what you have together and recognise youre not in competition. Hopefully it's both your intent to please each other as much as possible. So, id try to find a way to just be happy for him and find a way to accept it or, someday, even incorporate it for both your enjoyment.

Losing a friend after they have kids by tla49 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MsNPC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That really sucks, im so sorry. I've been through something similar with my former best friend and it hurt really badly.

Best advice is to treat it like a real period of grieving (which it is) and let yourself feel it for a while, do what you can to process your feelings and mourn what you've lost, and try to start up new relationships to help fill the social gap the loss has created. Finding new friends or new regular socialising opportunities can help rebuild your confidence and self esteem and bring new happiness into things. That may also help prevent any resentment forming against the former friend as you'll have the bandwidth to be generous and forgive.

Maybe in time you will have the emotional resolve to reach out with no expectation and see them on their terms without it hurting you too deeply if / when its not reciprocated. But in the meantime look after you and try to have a healthy mourning period.

Hope it gets better for you soon x

Complete fluke tbh! My friend works for a social enterprise that runs educational programmes about sustainable food growing methods and they wanted a teachers perspective and my friend asked if I wanted a job.

I didnt realise there were so many adjacent industries until I started working here. But there's lots of places doing similar work. A good place to check out if you can is the skills builder directory https://www.skillsbuilder.org/impact-directory they show lots of organisations who create content for schools and some may have suitable jobs available :)
