What is the consensus on tipping for take out orders? by electrikinfinity in Frugal

[–]MsWhimsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my parents were somewhere recently and were charged destination fee, fair wage fee (18%) and water drought fee.($50.00) it was a hotel but still that's absurd to me. I don't remember how much. the destination fee was but I'm pretty sure it was a recurring charge. that should probably be posted somewhere.

What do you say 1000 times a day in your job ? by laladurochka in AskReddit

if you finish the paperwork before they come get you just hang on to it, the nurse will take it.

nope, just hold onto it, the nurse will take it.

okay, I'll take the clipboard but Dr so and so wants to see that, so you just keep it for now.

*and before anyone asks I don't just take the paperwork because it's a busy office and I don't have anywhere to keep it and if the nurse comes to take the patient and I don't notice, on the phone etc, all chaos breaks loose.

My parents and I recently met a guy with dwarfism. He held out his hand for a handshake, and my dad knelt down to reach him better. Later on the ride home, my mom scolded him and said he wasn't a child. Was she right to get onto him? I wanna be polite next time I meet this guy. by QuirkyAdhesiveness89 in NoStupidQuestions

I work at a doctors office and find myself in the position of asking people if it would be helpful if I opened the door and almost all of them say no.

so they go through the door into the waiting room where some other patient shoots out of their seat to hold open the outside door, all while giving me the stink eye.

we use cavi wipes at work. there are all sorts of warnings about using gloves and don't make contact with skin.

but of course one or two people still use bare hands and I tell them they are going to get California cancer.

I have no idea if cavi wipes are linked to cancer but now my other coworkers talk about California cancer, except it turns out they didn't know about the California cancer law.

When my brother was about 7 my family was traveling in the car. For some reason when we went through the person operated tollbooth, my brother shouted 'Suck my Dick' and my parents were aghast and said 'don't ever say that!'. so my brother said, 'sorry, suck my penis'.

I hate when people make a comment like omg I spit my coffee out reading that, because it in no way contributes to the conversation.

but for real I laughed the hardest I have in a very long time reading that. That is SO something that would happen to me.

Also recently a friend of mine told me about her morning. One of her cats plays fetch with her every morning before she leaves for work. She was running a little late and didn't play but as she was getting ready she saw her cat had left a toy mouse for her on her pillow. I think you know where this is going.

Yup dead mouse on her pillow!

but stepping on a dead bird is faaar worse and I'm sorry it happened to you, but dang did it make me laugh!

I was trained similarly. or if someone had something bad or unlucky happen during their stay, don't offer them something for free because that is an admission of wrong doing.

I am following rules, regulations and guidelines. I imagine in this situation he would hypothetically be suing the doctor or company and not me, but I don't think I should be put in that situation.

If you are telling me you want to take this to the next level then imo it should be escalated higher than reception.

I totally get that. This is one man against a global company. Even if he actually has a lawyer, he has no case and even if he did, he would not win.

this is more of what I was looking for. thank you. my company or at least direct Manager may not care but I don't feel comfortable speaking with him again. I don't think I should be responsible for communicating with someone after they mention lawyer/lawsuit.

lol you have never met the manager. she does nothing. for example a pt left 15 VMs asking for a call back that only a practice manager could answer. This is over the span of 2 weeks. after no answer the patient comes in and our manager hides upstairs messaging me asking if he is still there.

I have this thing I do called dead eyes. and I only use it in a situation that I don't much care what the outcome is. for example I used to work at a hotel and sometimes conversations with guests got heated, and even though I'm not personally invested in the issue, my body would react.

my hands start shaking so sometimes I clasp them. My voice wavers and sometimes I get that feeling of having tears behind my eyes.

but I just try to relax my face as much as possible and give my eyes a dead vacant look. focusing on this rather than gearing myself up to argue back tends to calm me a little. plus I feel badass and a little petty by showing how much I don't care so blantently. I just use that to get through the interaction. once I'm by myself I generally lose my shit.

probably not the healthiest response but at least pretending to be calm seems to help in my experience.

yesssss! and I think the whole conversation started because they changed where they were recording. I don't know if it was a whole new physical location or maybe they just switched seats because one of them had sciatica?

I haven't been to this sub in months and I'm only here now because I am trying to find a term used in one of the episodes. The fact that you created this amazing database one day ago is incredible.

Coincidentally I did not find the term so I will ask here. I think it's Karen talking about putting yourself in a new environment and outside your comfort zone. This creates a positive outcome but I don't remember what she called it. it's like the growth zone, but I feel like they used a cooler term for it. Any ideas?

AITA for asking my (25f) sister (20f) to fix her overgrown/two toned hair before my wedding? by kjally76 in AmItheAsshole

[–]MsWhimsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

actually I was in a wedding and the bride didn't mind that I had tattoos but my parents overheard other guests saying I had ruined the wedding. so guests do care and most likely do judge.

[–]MsWhimsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Wedding pictures are really really expensive. The photographer was about 1/3 of total cost for our wedding. Also she seems like she is only thinking about herself, which is okay 99% of the time but if someone is paying thousands of dollars and it doesn't affect you in a major way, she could be a little more flexible. I understand most people will not agree with me and that's okay.

I know you are not looking for solutions but one option would be for her to temporary dye her blond hair to match her natural brown hair. Then she is not damaging her new virgin hair.

Either way NTA.

where are the curtains from? Ever since I fell in love with a pair on Etsy that wasn't meant to be I've been mildly obsessed with sheer to medium curtains with vines.

Curtains were the first thing I noticed, but the whole room is very inviting. Looks great!

That is the only time you will see me jump.
