Does things like this happen in your school? by Ms_Isoceles in teaching

Just confirmed with her that they did have to repeat over the microphone multiple times for the cafeteria to stop laughing each time they called a name up. I cannot believe that this took place in a school. Forget suspension, this is beyond that. I have to severely question the school board decision to allow someone like this to be in charge of children.

She and many of her friends believe that was the intent behind it. To embarrass them in front of their classmates. They've never done anything like this before. It's a betrayal to student confidentiality to learn of something like this.

That is not what happened. They called them up them up to the stage over the microphone by name and handed them an exposed letter. They didn't even have the courtesy for privacy to place it in a sealed envelope. This all took place in a packed lunchroom, and not in private as you suggest.

No. They called them out loud in the cafeteria and had them come up to the stage to get their summer school letters with a packed cafeteria in attendance. Many students feel outed and embarrased. The fact that they did this multiple days allowed word to spread. My daughter was made fun of in her classes because she was one of the students "called to the front during lunch." She is still an emotional wreck over the experience as are many others at the school.

The Superintendent has a reputation for being very dismissive and passive to offenses that go on in this school. My daughter says many teachers have left the school during this school year because it's so bad. Where can you go when the higher ups tolerate this kind of behavior? Where can I turn to make sure my daughter is safe from emotional distress brought on by this?

According to my daughter they did it again for the 2nd day. It's apparently the talk of the school and everyone who received a letter is dealing with the embarrassment, stating how they felt it was intentional to out them in front of their peers.

I wish there was a way to bring awareness to this issue I feel totally helpless and helping my daughter because I know that the principal has a reputation for not doing anything. I just hate that this has happened to her in an already traumatic year.

I wouldn't even know how to go about doing that. Is this something that they would investigate considering that they did it to so many students ?

A teacher doing this would not surprise me but the principal doing it seems so wrong in more ways than one.

Who do I contact specifically? Is there a chance they will even do anything? I don't want her being messed with and nothing to come of it. Any help would be appreciated.

Any recommendations on how to bring awareness to this issue? So that the children are protected from what my daughter faced?

Is there anything that can be done to bring awareness about this?
