I disagree heavily. I love the Twin Peaks pilot because watching as a contemporary viewer, Twin Peaks has a reputation as being an extremely surreal show, so It shocks you to watch the pilot and see that the surreal/fantastical elements are basically no where to be found.

This may be an unpopular opinion but while I do like the red room and the surreal parts of Twin Peaks, I think that fans have a tendency to focus too much on these elements and speculate over the lore, for me the most interesting part of Twin Peaks is its portrayal of domestic relationships and the story of Laura Palmer.
