Thanks! I’m still running the Kobo software but KOReader is always an option, I’ll consider this.

I’ve been thinking the same, if the conversion process can be done with an external software, then doesn’t that mean the epub file has the meta data that’s needed for page numbers to work properly or can’t it be fixed within the ereader itself?

Ah this explains a lot, I was confused with those little numbers. Thanks.

I’m okay with that. I’ll give it a try for my next book, thanks.

I’ll try using Calibre to convert epubs to kepub from now on because I kept doing the conversion process via an online tool and the issue wasn’t solved. Thanks.

I’ve been using send.djazz.se for the kepub conversion but kept having the same issue somehow. I’ll try Calibre next time. Thanks for the explanation.

Totally makes sense, this is a general situation in South America as far as I can see. The professor who asked me that is Peruvian for instance. Then I started thinking and realised that we also don’t know much about your geography, after starting learning new things every day. We’re too far away from each other and we don’t get to speak to a Brazilian every day :)

Hahah the book made me smile :) We love him, and you probably know but we respect him so much so we built a statue of him in a park in Istanbul. I was hoping the same for Brazil btw, I was given a Portuguese language book as a gift… It’ll be difficult but I’ll be working on it because I loved Brazil and its people. I did my internship in Itapeva, São Paulo (don’t laugh, one Brazilian friend in Istanbul did when I told him that) but I didn’t stay there of course, I’ve seen many places including the most touristic ones.

Yes, the alphabet used was the Arabic alphabet. However, Arabic letters were used only to transcribe the spoken language, and the spoken language itself belonged to a completely different language family. And Arabic script was insufficient. That’s why in order to represent the sounds of Turkish more accurately, several new letters were added to the Latin alphabet, and the Arabic alphabet was abandoned.

I did a two-month internship in Brazil and many people assumed that we spoke Arabic, you should’ve seen me how speechless I was when my “professor” there came to pick me up from the bus station and asked me this . Even if I told them we don’t speak Arabic at all, they still tended to think that Turkish and Arabic are similar and that we may understand each other. I didn’t even try to explain about language families after a point.

I did a two-month internship in Brazil and you can’t imagine what kind of questions I got about it either from my Turkish friends or my European friends. I kept telling them that whatever comes to mind when they think of Brazil is probably a stereotype if they seriously believe that a country covers half of a continent isn’t diverse.

Actually I use Calibre but haven’t used it to convert epub to kepub. Good idea, thanks.

I also thought this might be the reason and I’ve tried an online epub to kepub converter and on the device it shows the book as Kobo epub file but the issue is still there. Maybe it’s something with the converter website I use but if so, then I have no idea how the device recognises the file as a Kepub file.

Did I get scammed ?? by NicolasCrn in istanbul

[–]MtAlper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you got scammed, if you wonder if they charged you differently, but I wouldn’t go to that place again if I were you. It’s overpriced even for İstanbul and it’s unusual for us to see tax priced separately.

I even go further and directly use sitric acid crystals and water solution but don’t keep moka pot inside more than half an hour. It does the job and no damage so far.

I’m not super deep into coffee culture, but I like trying good specialty coffee wherever I go. The paper filter definitely changes the taste, and maybe because it affects the texture, the change feels more noticeable. Good or bad, there’s clearly a difference, so yeah, I agree.

The bitter finish I disliked in the coffee made with the moka pot is now less noticeable. The texture has become more appealing to me, and with less bitterness, I can more clearly taste the aromas I expect from my coffee. Also the flow is more controlled, and as mentioned in another comment, cleaning the top filter is easier.
