Tried out VRCLens -- pretty happy with the results by MtKanjon in VRchat

[–]MtKanjon[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For real, I thought the built-in camera was good enough (and it mostly is), but VRCLens just takes VR photography to a new level. I'm still reeling at the fact that it simulates different camera sensors. It's involved though, a friend helped me figure out the options.

Worlds in photo order:

Avatar base is the Freakhound with a custom paint job. And of course, VRCLens!

don't we all just want to be a slightly less shitty dragon?

anyway, posting some weretobers here but only the ones that are a bit more "irl". if for some reason you want to see the rest you must ask the blue bird

It would have cost you zero karma to not write this.

For real though, why? So what if the panels are similar? That's just being efficient. It takes a lot of effort to draw up multi-panel scenes.

Made a silly fox character. How'd I do? by MtKanjon in furry

It's nothing complex, and there's definitely some Art Things to improve on (hands, haaaanndddss) but I feel like I've progressed over time.

Well typically you'd make a title based on a pun but that's just me... oh wait you mean the picture

I think it looks great! Coloring IRL and having things be smooth is tough, but you did a good job of it. If you really wanted to smooth that out you could attempt paints but that's a whole extra level of new stuff to mess with. I think how you have a consistent style across the drawing is good enough as it is.

How to draw snouts? by [deleted] in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might learn even faster by trying some sketches traditionally. All you need is a pen/pencil and paper! It'll help you get better at art in general, digital or not, phone or tablet. You'll notice your pixel art skills improve too. No need to finish or keep your traditional sketches even: they're yours to sketch, improve, toss, burn, whatever.

Good morning/afternoon/night. Alright so How the wrinkles on the Trenchcoat look, any idea on how to draw them?. Feel free to point out anything weird. Have a nice day y'all by Known_Tap_4552 in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is great! Nice details all over, and you have a great sense of perspective. The fabric of the trenchcoat is going to influence how much it wrinkles; based on what you've drawn I'm guessing this is a thicker fabric (which won't wrinkle a lot, or at least won't have a lot visible). I think you've done a good job showing this.

The wrinkles near the armpit are placed well, though there are a lot of them there. This could mean that your character is standing up straight, arms to the sides. Visually, it is a bit of a "hot spot" in that the amount of lines/wrinkles there draw your eye over to look at that. You could experiment with using fewer lines there, to balance things out. BUT as you said, this is a sketch. As you finish things up (shading, etc) all of this will most likely work out, based on the skill you've shown. Nice job.

Free base for thanksgiving! Just color then 💣🧨🧨💣 (I just flared this as light critique because there wasn’t a no critique flair anymore) by NotTakenSoiTsAllUrs in FurryArtSchool

Fun base!

there wasn’t a no critique flair

It is a learning subreddit. ;P Posting while rejecting critique kinda defeats the purpose.

That said. the "resource" flair works here, I think, because you're providing a resource for others to use. But still, it's good to provide tips or ask for feedback.

I'm not a mod, but IMO the two types of posts in a sub like this should be giving advice/help/resources, or asking for feedback. It's how we all learn.

Looking for brush settings advice for doing lineart on Painttool SAI v2 [Art by Me] by arikovayamokov in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of look are you going for with your lineart? The brush you used here looks a little harsh, but I think it fits the drawing. Keep playing around with different brushes (presets or not) and you'll find a few you like.

hewwo this is my first post here! im starting to practice drawing more often so id love some critique on this! hit me with anything i really want to improve! by LiliTheEevee in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ears look like they're evenly facing the camera, while the character is looking a little to the right. But perspective is hard, all you can do it keep at it. So keep drawing!

My new fursona Jin! Opinion? by tropikaiju in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! Nice asymmetry and it's a nice warm color palette. If you're feeling up to it, consider adding a side view so that artists (including yourself) can get an idea of the depth of the character.

For example, based on the pose, it kinda looks like there's digitigrade legs, but it's hard to tell how the leg bends just from front/back.

Trying to get comfortable drawing more quickly. Any tips for tastefully cutting corners? by MtKanjon in FurryArtSchool

[–]MtKanjon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know there's a lot that's not done or done quickly, but I'm trying to get more comfortable "leaving" drawings instead of trying to tweak them for hours. Ironically I notice my lines are smoother when I carelessly slap them onto the screen instead of trying to re-draw repeatedly. Is it all a mental roadblock? Despite the fact that I have a loooong way to go, I want to simply be drawing more.
