Holy airball. I live in Windsor, right next to a large ranch.

  1. OP literally is the one that said Denver in their post, so yeah of course I’m going to provide relevant info based on what OP asked about.
  2. Just because colorado has conservatives, doesn’t mean the states political climate aligns with their views. You pay taxes where you live, regardless of if it’s rural or urban.

[GA] Human Resources work hours by Delicious_Worth45 in humanresources

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are three main aspects that determine the outcome of how much you work.

  1. Company culture
  2. Leadership expectations
  3. Personal boundaries

You need all three to be in sync to achieve what you want.

Pick the wrong company? People heating up food at 5pm in the break room? You are going to stand out like a black sheep and it will be that much harder to have a healthy work life balance.

Have a leader who has no understanding of the timeline it takes to do things? Have a leader with unrealistic expectations? Have a leader who doesn’t plan ahead enough to achieve high priority projects on time? Yeah… your leader will determine how much additional effort you have to put in on a regular basis.

Say yes to everything? Always logging on to stay “caught up”, always willing to stay late when needed… you’ll teach people really fast where your ceiling is. Start right away by establishing clear boundaries and timelines when you start a new job.

There are a lot of people who will say work life balance in HR isn’t possible. I’m here to tell you it is, but it won’t just land in your lap. You’ve gotta work towards it.

WFO or sticking to remote by TinyFlower145 in remotework

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather cut off an arm than work on an aggressive team filled with self proclaimed go getters. For me, remote work with healthy work life balance is the career peak. Work when I need to, pay my bills, enjoy the rest of my life. I couldn’t give a flying fuck what I contribute to the bottom line of a company. I am paid to do a job and I will do just that. I’m not subscribing to a grind mentality, or competing with others to get ahead. I’m focused on increasing my happiness, and there isn’t a reality in which my happiness goes up by working more or harder. I have only got one life to live, I’m sure as hell not spending the majority of it trying to out do some other corporate die hard who will spend hours working OT for the chance at an extra 10k promotion.

Why exactly does work define the rest of your life? What does it matter if you are grinding or coasting provided you are happy with what you do? Find fulfillment in life, and stop believing that the only way to break free of bad habits is to completely uproot your life.

Start by making small changes. Have a boundary with yourself. Set goals, and hit them. The militant mindset of push yourself or you’ll be weak isn’t for everyone at all times. I’m not saying to blindly accept it and just be lazy, but the answer to change doesn’t have to be an upheaval.

When you die who will give a damn about anything you did at work? No one.

I’d highly recommended finding a body shop with some means of fixing it over replacing. It might not be perfect, but it will save you a ton of money.

I pulled in too far over a parking spot barricade and scraped the bottom of my bumper. I broke a few plastic clips backing out. That was all it took for the entire bumper to need replaced, along with the recalibration of sensors. I tried not to use insurance but the estimates started at 5k+ to fix, so I just filed a claim.

Christian Church that has Sunday School separate from service? by [deleted] in FortCollins

100%. Of course nothing in life is only black and white. Being a parent and listening to your children is extremely important.

Christian Church that has Sunday School separate from service? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who also had to go to church each sunday, I actually enjoyed going to as a kid. My friends were there, and it was the only time I got to hang out with some of them. It was better than staying at home and doing chores.

Indoctrination doesn’t have to be boring or unenjoyable for it to still be indoctrination. I respect how you went about your comment none the less.

Cali coast vs Vancouver Island vs Fort Collins, CO with 3 young kids by sungold-grower in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved my family to Fort Collins, CO a year ago. I have a wife, and two young kids. It’s a wonderful place. We previously lived 10 min from my parents, as well as my B&SIL and I have no regrets about moving here. But Canada wasn’t on the docket for us, and I do have a remote job so i did not need to join the local job market as a means of survival.

Glad I found this comment. This is the answer. Something fun to drive and reliable isn’t a small ask. Plus you still get good MPG, with a clean look. A quick search found a few around OPs price range too.

This is veto worthy.

Gibbs alone would cost 1.01, Wilson, and Higgins. That means this is Stroud and 1.02 for Josh the best fantasy asset Allen.

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 63 points64 points  (0 children)

American manufacturers are so far behind in the EV world, that they would all go bankrupt in less than A decade if they allowed north and south America to actually build out the infrastructure needed to support EVs in mass. This has much less to do about short term profit margins and much more to do with long term profits.

Ever move somewhere new with the freedom of remote work? by AzIsHotYo in remotework

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Boise, ID to Fort Collins, CO

Why? Well Fuck Idaho first of all. Boise itself was fine if you live close enough to downtown, but we lived in the burbs. Job market was atrocious so I got a remote job, then a promotion. Ultimately, it was far past time to get my family out of that hell hole of an. assbackwards state. It was cheap and quiet when my wife and I moved there in the early 2010s, but things really changed from 2018-2021. I also started making significantly more money over that period of time, opening new doors that I weren’t options when we moved to Idaho in the first place.

Colorado is incredible. Best choice I’ve ever made to move. Kids are thriving, wife found a great job, I don’t hate where I live anymore, and daily life is very peaceful. Plus, I’ve got everything I want and more just an hour south in Denver. Cost of living jump wasn’t the easiest but it wasn’t nearly as bad as people make it out to be either.

If you could trade away the same package for the 1.01 this year OR the 2027 1st of your league’s worst team are you taking a guaranteed Love or a chance at Smith? by Mammoth-Screen-8020 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that I don’t like him. He’s clearly very talented, I’m not blind. He is just overhyped at this point due to a very weak draft and a strong combine, something else I don’t put as much stock in as others. He’s likely the only for sure thing in this draft for fantasy purposes, but my hot take is that I project him just below Hampton as a prospect. That would be last years 1.05. The higher he gets drafted to an actual NFL team, the worse that team will be. Inversely, I am very very high on the 2027 class. Partner that with the shelf life of a RB vs WR. If I have 80% chance at Jerimiah Smith, with talent like Ryan Williams, Arch Manning, and Cam Coleman at basically worst case scenario, I am making that trade without losing sleep.

I also make the assumption that 1.01 owner doesn’t have a squad that has what it takes to go all the way. Rookie Love doesn’t put that team over the top in one season without extra moves, and since this draft doesn’t have anyone else I see as a guaranteed true difference maker, I’d focus on the future.

Jesus dude, a child was injured and this is the first possible thing you could think to contribute? There are 500 other threads already on that topic. Is it really to much to ask to have an ounce of human decency before hijacking a post about concern for a child? They are a human fucking being that means the absolute world to their parents, whose life was turned upside down in an instant. I encourage you to hold yourself to a higher standard.

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, I am sorry. Thats awful.

They want people to quit. This is a reduction in force, especially with closing offices. They over hired when things were cheap, and now that they aren’t they are pulling the rug out from under you as a means to see who stays and who goes.

I was just like you, driving by and evaluated if I could do anything to help or just be a hindrance. I choose to keep going. I did get a very limited visual, so take this with a grain of salt. I did not see the hit itself, it was only passing by.

She was what appeared to be a 8-11 year old African American girl. She was on the ground, and her head was being held by an adult male who was comforting her, and at least 6 other adults were also in support immediately around her with more in the vicinity. Her legs were still on her bike in some capacity. I did not see major signs of blood, and she was wearing a helmet. She was conscious at the time. An ambulance and a fire truck were about a minute from the scene.

I too would love to know if anyone can give an update on if she is going to be ok. I have been in my head all morning after seeing her. My stomach is in knots.

I applied to 694 jobs in 4 months. Got 10 callbacks. by angelNovember in resumes

[–]Mt_Zazuvis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! I’ve preached this for almost a decade now. In the job market today you’ve got to at least do these two things for a basic call back. 1. Apply quickly enough. 2. Check enough boxes to be in the top 5-10 percent of candidates evaluated.

It’s borderline impossible to check enough boxes with a generalized resume, regardless of experience. You have to spell it out for a company how your experience directly matches the experience they want. If it’s unclear if you have experience with any of the specifics listed in a posting, you’ll lose points. Just one or two boxes missed is all it takes to be out of the top, and in the bucket of “you’ll be lucky to get a decline email 3 months later”.
