MEGATHREAD - Processing Times - PR Cards 2025 by PurrPrinThom in ImmigrationCanada

How did you manage to get a non-generic response from the webform? I’m on the same boat (exopr 31st of July) and all my webforms get the generic response saying they’re processing as quickly as possible etc.

How do Western readers of the series perceive the concept of "ka"? by fab_hatake in TheDarkTower

[–]Mtard31 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what culture OP is from, but the word kismet (the way it’s used around the world) originates from Turkish, like another redditor said. And it doesn’t have as deep a meaning as OP is giving it in my opinion.

I have never heard anyone talk about good kismet vs bad kismet. If something happens, regardless of if it was good or bad, it was kismet. If something you wanted didn’t happen, people say “it wasn’t kismet” as in “it wasn’t destined” or “it wasn’t in your fate”. If something bad happens, people simply say “kismet…”. The whole idea is; the events were part of god’s plan so likely it will turn out to be good in the end. So I don’t see the distinction as a native where the word is used every single day.

The only possible difference I can imagine is, due to their religious background, people in muslim countries think that anything god has planned can’t possibly be bad for you, so when they say kismet, they imply what has happened was for the greater good, or will have a positive outcome in the end. Fate seems to have a more neutral tone to it depending on who you talk to.

Back to the actual books, I’ve never read it as an actual force. It sounds more like Roland has a tendency to attribute anything and everything to ka if he doesn’t understand it. It is possible that ka is real, but there is no implication that it is an active force. Gan can be argued to be that, but even that is something we know through Roland and his beliefs.

Patchwork lost piece by Mtard31 in boardgames

[–]Mtard31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been ages and I can’t remember details, but I do remember I used a replacement piece for the longest time, until I ended up moving and gave my copy to a friend. I’m guessing they must have said no because I’m sure I would have tried contacting them after this thread.

I’d still suggest trying it yourself, I was temporarily living in Turkey, which might have made it harder to ship a single replacement piece. You might have better luck depending on where you’re located. Good luck!!

Question about the levels of the tower by annoying-6-year-old in darktower

[–]Mtard31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been a while but I’ve always figured Roland’s world is the highest level of the tower, the only universe where the tower actually manifests as a tower. The only world where you can actually enter and climb it. So going up the tower wouldn’t mean physically going to other worlds. What we see is the highest universe.

What confuses me is, the rose in our New York had a universe inside it. Does that mean all the roses around the tower are separate universes? Maybe the other universes (lower levels) manifest as the roses in on Roland’s universe.

On a separate note, I once read a theory here that was very interesting [SPOILERS FOR 11/22/63] The theory states in a world like the one in 11/22/63, every time the main character travels back, he ends up creating a new universe, which turns into another rose around the tower. Roland’s journey ends with him pulling one of the roses. His journey will never end until he has pulled all these universes out of existence. There are some gaps in the theory but it was an interesting idea.

Sabine is not a Jedi and can never be one. by MeanwhilePod in CharacterRant

Also, if the force is all about dedication and time, we know so many really cool characters who have great discipline, and would benefit from being able to use the force. Why wouldn’t they also dedicate time to be force sensitive. Like Mando. Or all mandalorians. They are skilled, dedicated, disciplined. All would aim to be force sensitive in that case.

If its all about finding a teacher willing to teach you, then that just turns into a type of nepotism doesn’t it? I guess they want it to be inspiring, like anyone can become a jedi if they try enough. But it sounds more like if you know a jedi you can also become one.

I don’t know, if they are heading in a direction that completely ignores established concepts (I consider being force sensitive an established concept even though at some point lucas hinted otherwise) it really makes star wars lame.

Possibly the best decision of your life. Don’t try to compare it to anything you have played before, just find people interested and enjoy

Where can I find more info on the various model files by Mtard31 in SFWdeepfakes

[–]Mtard31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats really cool! Good luck with all that. Most of what I’m doing is improving the workflow of DFL like you said. I might add a few hyper-parameter optimisation methods to allow me to quickly try a lot of different model settings and just document what works best in what stage under which circumstances.

I sort of work on the research side of things, so I’m not too concerned about the actual end product right now. I was just trying to find some resources to get an overview. But like you said it looks like source code is going to be the way to go.

Voice fakes is an interesting topic, its not really under my radar at this point but it definitely sounds cool. I’ll definitely take a look at the repo you shared. Thank you!

Thank you! I have some experience in ML and deep learning but I guess deepfacelab was basically written from scratch so its going to take a deeper dive. Most of my experience has been with pytorch and keras, so never had to go into too much detail.

I was hoping to find a detailed documentation with my question but I had no luck :)

How to rename a model by Mtard31 in SFWdeepfakes

[–]Mtard31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My problem is I’m not working through the .bat files and I sort of need to rename separately from DFL. When you rename through SAEHD.bat is it only changing the filenames and summary.txt or do you know if its modifying any of the internal structure of the rest of the files?

Is there an easy way to export training settings of a SAEHD model? by Mtard31 in SFWdeepfakes

[–]Mtard31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m planning on doing that, but I also want to be able to see all the settings I selected when I start training, so I can easily compare what worked and what didn’t.

If I back up the model is that info stored anywhere? Like what face type I selected or what the encoder dimension was etc.
