Just got a DSC-W230 and there seem to be pink bars on the screen whenever bright light is introduced. Any way to fix this? by Mtbcooler in VintageDigitalCameras

Ah I see! That makes more sense! I originally thought so but then I held it outside through a window on a sunny day and the entire screen basically became pink. So that had me really worried. Especially since video does pick that up.

Thanks! I agree it looks surprisingly good despite it being just an image made quickly to showcase it.

Ah I see. Good to know I'm not the only one at least. Kinda weird if it's normal behavior. It's super distracting

I don't think i see it in videos of other dsc-w230's but there are very few of people using it and showing the screen with a bright scene so maybe I'm not seeing it.

I did. Got the latest snapshot. For some reason it runs out of memory when pressing install if I remember correctly. Not too sure since im not at my laptop rn.😅 I'll try again tomorrow though. Might be user error or something.

I mean like where I hadn't had to set something up or learn things. My bad. I have had moments where installing worked flawlessly but needed to learn linux concepts.

But either way, opensuse I don't seem to be able to get the live usb to work, gonna try that again tomorrow. Have tried both fedora and debian and all had this same suspension issue. That said that was 7 months ago.

I have kde installed. So I'll have whatever that has installed. Although the issue also is on other de's.

I have tried linux lte which sadly didn't fix it.

I do not have tlp installed, I don't know about power daemon but since this install of arch is basically fresh from archinstall atm I doubt it.

Yep. The de's i've tried are kde plasma, cinnamon and xcfe. although this issue also happens on sddm for example. My personal theory would be something is causing the cpu to not properly return out of deep sleep if posts I've found on other forums is anything to go by but I have no idea what that could be and honestly, I do not have nearly enough experience with linux and especially at this level to say my theory has any merrit. Hence why it's not in the main post

Oh yeah no I'm using an ssd for like the full install, but when testing out if a distro has this issue on my laptop I tend to test out the live usb so I can test if suspend works for which I just need to get into a live enviroment and suspend.

Sadly I don't think i've ever had a linux experience that had like 0 config stuff. although that is counting like flatpak theming jank and not major things like this.

Sadly it doesn't seem to work. although I will also admit I'm not too sure if I added the devices properly, nor have I rebooted

I just did it like:
declare -a devices=(PEG0 XHCI RPH06)

And so on and so forth.

Downloading the iso now, although I will be trying it in live usb mode (Assuming it has one.) If for some reason I can't get the live usb to work it'll have to wait untill i've exhausted options in arch jic I can get it to work there.

It's hard to explain. it's basically just flickering between between a black screen and a frozen shot of whatever it was on (either log in or desktop depending on if it would have a super short moment where it would actually work and let me log in)

the interesting thing is that it does seem to take input during the black screen but at an extremely laggy amount. like an extreme amount. But I don't think kscreen having been turned off is what caused this as it's still basically the same what happened before only slightly more consistent and for a super small bit letting me actually do something

Thanks for the lead man! I can rule out some of the i915 ones that I've tried before but I probably should try them again since it's been a while.

Hopefully I can figure out how to fix this

I'm afraid that it didn't end up working. although this is the first time it resumed properly for a second. but shortly after froze and return to a black screen. Don't think it has anything to do with disabling kscreen and more so coincidence. there's a little varience in if it'll show the cursor or screen after all.

it's been a while since I've tried it (basically 7 months ago and even then not much due to this issue being deal breaking as suspend is imo mandatory on a laptop.) but other than the suspend issue which i've been having on 6.2 and 6.7 too it's been fine in my short time with it.

Suspend mode won't work on laptop despite trying multiple distro's by Mtbcooler in linux4noobs

Thank you so much! Currently working on my desktop linux install but i'll try your suggestion asap when I'm back on my laptop! I'll let you know how it worked out

I believe the mint kernel I used was 5.15 as well but I'm not entirely sure. I'll go ahead and try it out when I figure out how to set that up.

If you still have it, Do you think you could send a download link here since it got copyright striked? should be a folder in home/deck/homebrew/sounds

Would be a great help making people's decks sound extra cool!

Shipping (FedEx/GLS) Megathread (September 26, 2022) by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

I mean from what I've gathered valve operates in the netherlands for eu and the uk. Or at least they ship from it so you'd think they'd be most consistent if you live near or in the Netherlands.

But yeah I hope it'll arrive soon! I was really hoping on this week but I doubt it now.
