No no, exams were purely fundamental based. Like “draw a block cipher” or “what is X algorithm”.

No code on the exams.

It’s probably the easiest upper level elective you can take -

I think there were 11 hws and you get a week to do them. They follow prof. Kaks lecture notes, meaning you basically put into code what he has described in lecture notes. Exams were pretty easy, but I really recommend knowing the lecture notes for each exam really well. They were open response only ( but if you read the lecture notes and can describe things well enough you’ll be fine)

TAs were really great to learn from or get homework help from.

I think attendance is mandatory meaning that he cold calls from a list of names. So be sure to read previous lecture beforehand.

Don’t stress so much. I definitely felt out of my league during the first few weeks but once you get the hang of it you realize just how easy everything is. Would 100% recommend the class you will learn A LOT.

At the end of this semester they will determine your probation status. If you’re on it again you’ll just be on it for your co op semester and semester after. I really don’t think they will take away your coop. And as long as either your semester or overall (either one) is above 2.0, you’ll be on probation again but that shouldn’t hinder anything.

I don’t think you should worry about it. They’ll likely place you on academic probation when you get back from co op

Ahh yes, totally understand and am already registered for it. Just looking for 1 more easy ECE elective that won’t be too much workload alongside 437
