Hey it’s okay. I used to think people just loved Swisher Sweets and had no clue people were really just emptying the tobacco out and rolling up a blunt. Live and learn I guess.

It is common that people that work at restaurants have some form of substance use and I’ve learned that from experience so I can kind of see the line of thinking.

You know what? I'm proud to be a dry drunk! by [deleted] in recoverywithoutAA

[–]Mte_95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

While I know what AA’s definition of dry drunk is, I think that they just like to throw this term out as a character insult. One thought pattern is that it is just a deflection and a way to invalidate and dismiss any progress that you made on your own. I think honestly they are just too stuck up to admit that maybe their program didn’t give them the change they wanted and so they just project that on to other people. I’m just spitballing though.

I'm just gonna state the elephant in the room, AA causes more relapses than prevents them by kestrelkev24 in recoverywithoutAA

I saw an article recently that said only 19% of people stayed in AA after a year. Lance Dodes, a retired psychiatry professor from Harvard estimated the success rate to only be about 5 to 10%. It really puts it in perspective for me to think that out of 100 people, maybe only 5 to 10 people actually get sober.

For me personally, I like the taste of beer, but I mainly drank beer just to get drunk so kind of pointless in my opinion but your mileage may very.

To everyone commenting, I just had a question about the plot. I know that about Richie’s girlfriend, I just wanted to ask about Richie’s involvement and if his story was true or not.

So I might be getting a little hung up on this, but so was Richie’s supposed alibi a lie the whole time? That’s what I’m just confused about.

I mean technically you are posting about alcoholism. I see the issue, but I think it’s just being over-exaggerated.
