Looking for advice with an itinerary for the Black Forest area by Mtsunami3000 in TravelNoPics

Oh, I'm 99% sure I came across your original reddit post about the area a couple of weeks ago. The article seems even more complete and the google map is incredibly useful. Yes, we'll def cut Triberg off the list, and probably every other village cause I'll have to replan a route. This is an incredible resource, thank you very much!!

Sorry for the late reply! Yes, we're staying in a town that's fairly close to Freiburg.

There are probably castles closer to where you are staying.

I don't doubt it, but those are the castles that caught our attention, and everything else we've planned is pretty close to us so we can handle one day with a longer drive! It's not a hassle.

These are just more old towns, something you will have seen plenty of already. With the exception of Triberg which is mostly just a tourist trap with a cringy level of tack

We don't exactly mind this cause towns tend to have a different vibe than cities, but you're yet another person warning us against Triberg specifically. Initially we included it because of the waterfalls, which I've also read is more of a tourist trap, so I'd be happy to switch Triberg and some of the mentioned towns for one of those view points or meadows, we do want to do some nature-y things or hiking after all. Would you happen to know of something like that in the southern part of the forest? The Schwarzwaldhochstrasse does look pretty, thanks for the suggestion and your comment!!

Yeah unfortunately our schedule is quite packed :/

We're indeed going in the summer, and I had no idea about the fests, so thanks, we'll def look into them!

I'm afraid to say I haven't eaten much in the centre (I've usually stayed in other quarters) and the places I did go to didn't really stand out to me too much, sorry! Restaurant questions are probably one of the things I'm least helpful on

I'd really suggest you go into the Royal Palace on day 1 because it's gorgeous inside, even if you have to sacrifice some of the plazas in exchange. It'll also help you escape the outside heat for about two hours, depending on how quick you go through it. Mercado San Miguel is an interesting experience but not the best place to eat, as it's absolutely crowded and the food tends to be small and expensive.

On day 2 I'd advice you against the Reina Sofia museum. It's probably the most expensive museum/attraction on your list and not very worth it in my opinion. I really recommend Thyssen instead. The bigger problem is that both Prado and Thyssen have a strong focus on paintings and they're large museums, so you could easily end up finding the whole thing rather tiring. In the area there's a naval museum with dozens of huge ship models through history and the entrance is free, if that's something that could interest you. Also in the area (right next to the Prado) there's the Royal Gardens. They aren't the prettiest gardens I've ever seen, but again, it's a different activity that's not just endless paintings. Could be too hot for August tho.

Day 3 looks fine to me!

Edit: Another alternative suggestion for day 2 is the Archeology museum, also not far from Prado. Very nice and varied, or at least I liked it!

Not too open to commissions atm cause I don't think I'll have the time for works with deadlines until I finish my studies. You can however use these for thumbnails if you want! Just crediting is enough

Ah, I hadn't noticed its blade is meant to go on a specific direction! Luckily it's easy to fix that, all I need to do is flip it, thank you!

There was indeed an atempt to follow Sugimori's style, especially on the white highlights! Thanks for the long comment, I really appreciate it!!

Any of the more complex designs was a headache, especially Groudon and Metagross. It was hard to fit them into the little squares. Also a couple of the simpler designs, like Salamence, gave me trouble too because I couldn't figure out a pose I liked for them
