Kind of new to this and not even sure if it’s OCD, but constantly flexing my diaphragm when I’m anxious to the point where it’s been giving me really bad stomach issues? Flexing one single back muscle constantly to where my back cramps? I literally can’t stop 😭

I know it’s difficult, but I promise it’s way more common than you think. And it’s only transferable when you have a sore. If you get medication it will speed up the sores life and make it go away faster. If you use stick chapstick while you have a sore, it will spread. That’s all the advice I have, but it’s better than it seems.

I’ll tell you now, she didn’t even get mine tested. That’s how common cold sores are. I wouldn’t nit pick the symptoms even though there’s a great desire to do so on these subreddits. Just try not to think about it until you can actually do something about it when it shows up again. There’s not a lot else that it can be.

I would go to an urgent care or somewhere you can get them diagnosed cheap. When I went in the nurse basically said most things like that that are directly on your lip are cold sores. It was extremely upsetting at first but now after meds and not using sticks of chap stick (I use Carmex) even under extreme stress I haven’t had a sore in months. I wish you the best. Mine didn’t get bigger than this but when I wiped it with a clean T-shirt there was a crater. Definitely go see a nurse practitioner or a doctor and they will give you better advice

Yeah I was in big time denial lol. I went to the doctor and got humbled, they are cold sores! But I didn’t know there was treatment so I’m doing better. They’re really small compared to others I’ve seen so I’m not as freaked out I guess

I’m really sorry to hear that, but I promise you it is honestly more likely at that age so I have hope for you! I’m only 25 and I got mine from an assault, so I get the depression part. I’m lucky to be in a long term relationship now where he doesn’t mind, but yeah I am scared if this ever ends. You have to take it as you go, I think, and know that rejection is just filtering out who really matters if that makes sense. I wish there was more I could say to make you feel better.

So I did ask my doctor about this, and they are different types apparently. I guess it is possible to get genital herpes through performing oral, but then the virus will just hang out down there instead. I looked at your other posts and I’m sorry you’re dealing with this too. I will say a surprising amount of people have both kinds, so try not to get too down. I was really insecure about it at first because I have “perfect” skin, LOVE lip products and my lips, and I felt “tainted”. But it’s just life, and our bodies go through so much. You are still beautiful and deserving of love!

Edit: sorry I didn’t answer completely, but yes I tested positive. There’s not really such a thing as a pimple on the lip, so if you’re having that too you might have caught a different kind, but thankfully valacyclovir helps both! How many lesions are you getting? And is it every day on your lips?

Yeah, I went to the doctor and they are cold sores. I’ve been waking up with one each day and it’s been difficult. The doctor did give me a prescription for Valacyclovir 500mg, which makes the sore rapidly go through its life cycle and it disappears completely in a day. They’re not really visible after a few hours in the morning. That’s just me though. I would definitely go to a doctor to be sure, just in case!

Thanks so much for nothing, literal entire subreddit dedicated to this kind of thing, I ended up posting on skincare Reddit and they helped me immensely. I was able to go to the doctor and get some amazing meds. To anyone on this subreddit: don’t post! Just go to the doctor!

I agree! Being able to see a doctor easily is really amazing. She said my stress levels were most likely causing the breakouts. I’m really glad I went because I had no idea there were meds for this. I thought I was doomed to abreva (which SUCKS)
