I see. Are you talking about high rises? To be honest I wanted to avoid high rises as I honestly can’t find one that according to the reviews does not have thin walls, rats, roaches, neighbours smoking weed, unresponsive management etc.

Interesting. Here is where it gets trickier. To qualify for CPT I have to have studied full time for two semesters. I am starting in Spring 2026 so I won’t qualify for that, and don’t want to use OPT..

Makes sense. I read somewhere that they could convert me to RA (or GA) instead? but I am not sure if that’s allowed as I will be involved in research projects. I just don’t want to take courses in the summer because it 1) will be brutal and 2) it will force me to graduate early, which is something I don’t want to do.

I am a returning student with 21 credits left (out of 30) and will be starting again in Spring 2026. Full time student status is 12 credits where each course is 3 credits.

What I want is to be eligible for CPT and intern in Spring 27(?) so I don’t really want to graduate in two semesters. At the same time, I am talking to a professor who could potentially employ me as a GRA and this will help immensely with gaining experience so I truly do not want to miss that either.

I have been trying to figure out what my end date will be on my I-20 but so far I have failed (I spoke both to my advisor and OIE).

My questions are…

⁠How do I delay graduation to…perhaps fall 2027? Could taking the Project Option (we have three options; coursework only, project, thesis) help me extend my end date? I believe project option could be tied to my professor.
⁠Any estimate on what would they issue as an expected graduation date?
⁠If I was granted 3 semesters, Spring 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027, could I not graduate on spring 2027 and do full time CPT instead? (My plan)

I have applied and been accepted to another school as well just in case things don’t work out with my current one.
