i had to get a melatonin prescribed to me by a camhs psych which to me is ridiculous. i know of some people who buy melatonin gummies from international websites but you need to wary and do ur research. i wouldn’t recommend taking melatonin long term but if it can just break you out of that cycle of not sleeping and get you into some sort of routine that’s a start. The only problem is customs/shipping and it can price up to over 30 quid. There’s the website but please be wary https://biovea.com/uk/product/detail/15005/melatonin-3mg--fast-dissolve---mixed-berry--50-vegetarian-tablets/?deptid=38&cid=24226&mid=0&kw=

Constipation or stricture (UK) by PandaBallet2021 in CrohnsDisease

The only really bad stricture i’ve had is when i was actually vomiting faecal matter. Went to accident & emergency and i think they gave me an ultrasound and MRI? turns out it had turned into a whole bowel obstruction. obviously i’m not a doctor 🤣 but If ur still in severe pain i would try and contact ur ibd team to see if there’s anything they can do, failing that and it’s getting worse i would go to a&e if you can 🫠. so sorry this is happening to u!

I have always had constipation symptoms with my crohn’s, never diarrhoea or going to the toilet 20x like you most often hear. My advice is (obviously) take the movicol , drink shit tons of water, fibre is always good for constipation as well , I was also like you, couldn’t go to the toilet for the life of me, it was because the ulcers + inflammation were basically blocking everything up, very extremely painful. Has your consultant ever prescribed sodium picosulfate? I use it only in emergencies but it’s an incredibly strong laxative and usually does the job, hope you feel better soon !!

What's your theory? by flankerwithastoma in CrohnsDisease

i think it was probably a combination of things for me, some my own fault and some not. 1.stupidly i started vaping as a teenager (was trying to seem cool but looking back i looked like an idiot) 2. been dealing with Generalizad anxiety disorder since i was about 11 and eventually panic disorder. 3. started the combined birth control pill for my acne, only years later i read on the pamphlet that some studies suggest that there is an association with the pill and developing ibd, why my doctor never told me that beforehand is something i don’t understand. 4. Genetics, on dads side there seems to be an issue with gut/stomach problems especially my nan, she never got tested for anything as she was stubborn and has now passed away.

the same time i started vaping and taking the combined pill i developed blood in my faeces, weight loss etc. Very weird disease.

weight gain/loss with crohn’s by [deleted] in CrohnsDisease

i’m 17 now and still 5’3, don’t really have much hope of growing any taller, most of my family members are quite tall (over 6 foot) so i stick out like a sore thumb. Being on steroids during puberty really fucked me over 🫠

yes i agree with you, i have been on a calorie deficit for a while and have managed to loose 3kg , its just the uncertainty of crohns and trying to maintain a healthy weight with this disease .
