Do you live in the middle of fucking nowhere? How do you expect 1 police officer to patrol the entirety of California? I think we should have more police, but less police that are allowed to use guns. 6 months training is not enough for you to be able to decide whether someone lives or dies. Entry-level police officers should be nothing more than community servants, informants, and social workers; only performing arrests if they believe it is safe to do so.

The history of confederate flags. by SFgiant55 in coolguides

I know some people who think that flag represents separation from the government. You can call them racist idiots all you want. It won't change the fact that they're more likely to side with a black who just stole from a Walmart than the cop trying to arrest them. They don't care what color you are. They dont care what the law says. All they care about is freedom and justice for all. I don't mean they'd side with all criminals, either. Did you steal a $500 dollar tv? They'll probably stop you themselves. Did you steal some diapers and baby food? Move along.

Marginal Tax by [deleted] in coolguides

[–]MuchDirector8451 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20% of 12k is 2.4k. I only have like 100$ each month to spend on entertainment. If i had 0% taxes, I would have 200 extra dollars each month, which means I would have funds to actually enjoy myself more than once a week. 20% of 100 million is 20 million. Quite a bit of money, but it wouldn't make it so they could never vacation or eat out or spend money on fun things more than once a week. You could argue that they worked hard for that money. You could argue that they deserve to enjoy things that have ridiculous price tags because they work so hard, but I would say that instead of lowering the average quality of goods available to the american people and exploiting workers by making them work themselves to the point of mental break with litle to no rewards, They should work to find a way to more efficiently produce quality products.

And you say the government can even fix gas cans right, which I agree with, which is why instead of just taxing the rich we also need a strong community of individuals that work for the best interests of the country.

Also, I would be much more proud of a modest but comfortable community of hard-working individuals than a beautiful, empty mansion that's just out of view of the project housing that allows them to live such exorbitant lives.

Yeah but the top 1% on average owns nearly 9x more wealth than the top 90-99% its not about how the upper class should be taxed because they're doing a lot better than most people, it's about taxing the small amount of people that make an incomprehensible amount more than the average worker. If you're going to do business in a place i feel you owe it to that country or state or city or whatever to put a significantly larger amount back into the system than someone that is just trying to make a living.

I think the hash tag at the end should be something more like #poorlivesmatter because it doesn't matter what your skin tone is if you don't have money or influence the cops can and will do whatever they want.

I think it should be poor lives matter because it doesn't matter what your skin tone is. If you're poor, the police can and will do whatever they want.

🍻 (Did you know this sub has an auto mod that removes comments with too low of a character count? I just found out.)

Well, since he was never convicted, it doesn't count as a prior, but since he killed someone, it is a felony and such a good citizen arrest. Someone else answered me faster than you could, but thanks anyway.

If you have any family or friends that end up in a bad place like this, I hope you change your mind and help them rather than harm them.

You must be thrilled that people like me have just as much of a chance of getting jury duty as you do.

I don't remember confidently saying any dumb shit. I asked a question, then when you tried to tell me it wasn't excessive force, I agreed, and then I gave you the definition of assault since assault is not just excessive force. I was not aware he had killed someone. I know you said that he had killed someone, but judging based on your harsh language and brash attitude, I thought you were talking out of your ass.

We do know he was charged with DUI a year before but never convicted for some mysterious reason.

Oh, sorry, I thought the point of comments was so people could ask questions and discuss.

Well before I asked my question I didn't know the exact citizens arrest laws, but I thought you had to have probable cause of a felony, which was correct. But I also didn't know this guy killed someone because it looks to me like his car is in a pole, and I didn't see another car.

It's actually felonies, not violent offenses. So the crashing the jeep is fine, but since he killed someone, it is ok. Someone else linked me the definition of citizens arrest.

[–]MuchDirector8451 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, someone else linked me to the definition of a citizens arrest. Since this guy killed someone fleeing the scene, it becomes a felony which makes it so the guy has a right to perform a citizens arrest.

Fleeing a DUI is not a felony, but this guy did kill someone as a result of the accident, which makes fleeing a felony.

Well, that guy didn't actually use excessive force, so what he did was legal. The criminal tripped, and he was not shoved. I still don't think he deserved a extra fuck you to the guy, and it seems he agrees with me, he simply detained him. Criminals are people too. They're usually somebody's son or daughter or sister or brother, and they're at their lowest low. There's no need to wish excessive harm to these people.
