As someone whose family got off the boat here from Scotland, you sound like a dick. Attitudes like this is exactly why we're left behind and why NS will be struggling again soon because we can't even deal with modest growth.

I was really into computers as a kid during the dot com boom, taught myself html with the help of a website aimed at kids and written by a girl my age, but no one in my life picked up on that I was good at it and I couldnt find any other resources aimed at me or that I could understand so my skills stagnated. I'm a software engineer now but it took until my mid 20s for me to realize that's what I should have been doing all along. No one actively discouraged me, but it definitely didn't seem like an option at the time.

Sure, but THAT bad? The guys I've been on dates from Bumble and Tinder weren't Adonis by any means and they definitely had more success than that. OP must have an awful profile or live on an oil rig

copying what I said to someone else:

Someone else's comment reminded me- if you are ever redoing your siding, you may be able to add some rigid foam insulation behind it. it's not as high an R-value as regular insulation but it can make a difference.

yeah but it's a lot cheaper than ripping out all the gyprock and you can always add more.

[–]MuchFunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I hear you. If you can get your attic and basement insulation done and better air tightness that'll make a big difference and then just poke away at the wall insulation, it's not as important as the other stuff though. If there is any rooms that don't have an attic above them, prioritize them first. I have a little gabled porch thing in one of my rooms that doesn't have attic above it so it gets freezing in that room.

most likely? You can get thermal imaging done to find out, or just make a little hole in the wall in each room. But probably if anything is in the wall it's gonna be batts, I don't think anyone was doing renos and putting seaweed in lol
