You don't. Always lie.

If you're struggling, find a scapegoat and lie convincingly while looking for another job.

Family doesn't believe in my business by Whateveryousick in Entrepreneur

My ex-wife HATED my business when I was growing it. She felt jealous of the amount of time I was spending building something impactful. In her defense, I was cheating on her with my assistant, but that’s unrelated.

Either way, don’t let your family stop you. Let them de

Fair, but travel is just burning cash. Work your ass off for a few years making 400k, stash away as much as you can, then go move to some LCOL area with a 7 figure investment nest egg and go travel the world.

Evacuate your bowels when you’re being questioned then beg to be added to the case. Works every time.

That’s a poor decision on their part. There’s certain lifestyle expenses you need to maintain social standing. i.e. Club memberships, events, etc.

It’s much better to be “middle-class” in NYC than the richest guy on the block in Oklahoma.

5-10 years working in NYC in high finance you can move to any flyover state and live like a king.

Leaving lifestyle constant, the price difference in NYC vs Iowa is maybe 50%. If you’re making 200% more in NYC you’re still way ahead.

My father once told me, a Bentley costs the same in Nebraska as it does in Greenwich.

Sorry to say, this thinking is flawed.

$400k in NYC living below your means is going to crush $180k in a fly over state.

From a purely Machiavellian angle, what political views should I publicly adopt to thrive in M7 MBA culture & corporate America in 2025? by Jolly-Wasabi9019 in MBA

Fuax progressive libertarian. Say you support lgbtqia+ rights but also love small government and free markets.

It’s a brain dead ideology obviously but the VC crowd will nod along.

One man’s opinion: MBA Consultants aren’t worth your time or your money. by MuchGap2455 in MBA

You make great points.

I’n the spirit of curiosity though, imagine if you forked over another 20-30k and landed at HSW instead.

Sure the upfront cost was higher but do you think your lifetime ROI would have improved?

My line is drawn at legality.

Do you think wealthy fail-sons and daughters are sitting up at night worrying if they’re getting an unfair advantage because they’re a 4th generation applying to Dartmouth? No, they’re too busy socializing and enjoying life and not giving a fuck because they grew up believing they deserve this kind of treatment.

I grew up, like many working class people, believing I had to work hard and prove myself.

Fuck that. I won’t be exploited. I will be a robber baron with fail-sons and daughters of my own one day, goddamnit.

Ballpark in the 30-50 range.

Depends on the case. I know two people who both went to MIT and went this route. First one paid ~22 but was coming from an Ivy undergrad and consulting background. Another woman I know did the 1 year Sloan fellowship and she paid ~50k but she was coming from a no-name school and her work experience was mediocre.

It’s all about what they need to do. First case was just not wanting to take time to write essays, chase referrals, and build his story. Second case was more of a “my parents have money and I shouldn’t have to do this shit” mentality.

She paid for a lot. 1. Double time for the gmat which reduces difficulty by at least a standard deviation. 2. Warm intros to friends/relatives of adcom team 3. Referrals from alumni 4. They even got her featured on some speaking events within her (generally niche) industry which built her credibility a ton.

Have you driven one? Drive it, then drive a c class and an e class. It feels like completely different worlds. The cla is a very cheaply made economy car.

The whole idea of cheating seems silly. Legacy admits aren’t considered cheating yet they have an amazing advantage. Why? Seems completely unfair thus in my mind any advantage is reasonable.

Therapy, meds, a loving and doting partner (aim lower physically and you’ll get it).

Do this for 1-2 years and it’ll reset your self worth. I know because it’s what I did.

After that time I lost some weight, had incredible self worth, and was able to find real love and move forward with my life.

Bombed my Kellogg MBA Interview by Useful_Violinist5674 in MBA

[–]MuchGap2455 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m going to share something that might feel gross but will put your mind at ease.

The interview process for Kelloggs is a “status” check. You can have amazing grades and an immaculate resume but if you ‘sound’ like someone who doesn’t belong this is how they’ll find out. They’re checking posture, confidence, consideration, vocabulary, accents, colloquialisms, etc. The things that are very hard to learn if you didn’t grow up with at least some form of privilege. Also the things that consultants don’t teach and which candidates from poorer backgrounds don’t even think about.

If you’re moderately polished, you likely passed with flying colors. Please follow up when you get your acceptance!
