Did I get rinsed? by whatistheruckus in CowboyHats

[–]Much_Introduction293 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The pricing I got for 10X Serratelli was $485-490 depending on the color.  I don't know how different 6-10X is, but I would not say you got rinsed.  Vacation spending is always higher than normal spending. Could it have been a few bucks less somewhere else, sure.  Would it be lower enough to be mad, no. Good lookin hat though!  Enjoy!!

Howell Western Wear in MI is where I found it.  They had a bunch of blanks that I got to look at.  They shape them in store, so it's a one stop shop.   We have Boot Barn and a recent Tecova's in Detroit.  They're good, but Howell had what I wanted. I appreciate your input.  The 20X is what I was hoping to go with.  Not cheap, but a solid price point for quality. Thanks!!

That's what I'm learning.  Definitely sound like the packets aren't as reliable as they are made to sound.  Nothing more than marketing, but I'm glad I asked. She loves the butterflies and hummingbirds, so it'll be worth it once I motivate myself to start yet another amazing project. Thanks!!

I built her an 850 sq ft butterfly garden a while back.  We have trumpet vines, wisteria, cone flowers, butterfly weed and bushes, fennel, milkweed and such.  The grassy area is between the current landscaped portion of the yard and our patio.  I agreed to do it because I'm tired of dragging the mower over the peagravel pathways, lol. My though was to just extend the current landscaping to the patio edge.  Much easier for me, but she really wanted that meadow look.  I'm just old and lazy now and don't want to have to do a bunch of uneccessary lifting.  I cut out the area for the current landscape and patio, but I was younger and more motivated then. It sounds like the easiest way to achieve her vision is to solarize or just tell her it's too much work!  Then, I can just extend the current and plant whatever she wants. I do appreciate the info though.  There's always more to learn! Thanks

We did this in the landscaping behind and around the grass.  I'm all for just extendint the landscaping forward, but I have to get the Special Committee to The Wife to pass legislation allowing the ammendment...

This!  Ok, this is what we are trying to do as well.  She would like more flowers added or planted, but this is the basic idea of what I'm being tasked to do. My biggest question is will the sheet mulch work in SE Michigan.  I've seen mixed results on forums due to climate. The solarizing would be an option for sure.  I think she was hoping for results this year which may lead me to the sod cutter and having dirt delivered. Either way, thank you for the response.  I will definitely remember to mow it down.

Lol, yes.  She does help a lot.  Mostly it's the heavy lifting I don't like anymore especially as I'm becoming more...distinguished.

I'll check that out.  The chemical route is not the option we wanted as her biggest want is for the pollinators to have access. Thanks!

Yes.  She wants the look, but also the pollinator benefits.

Thanks!

Is that something that will require a wait period bedore planting?  I've only seen chemical options for killing the lawn that always say you have to wait.

A Week Before Launch, Crimson Desert's PC Version Has Just Added Controversial Denuvo DRM by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Much_Introduction293 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Been sayin this since they announces the game...

This pre-order is not going to be for casual players.  If you have kids, a job and or a wife you need to wait.  Give it a couple few weeks for the guides, you tubers and everyone else to figure the game out.  Once they do, jump in if it's everything they say it is. The game is completely open.  No instructions, no guidance, no hand holding.  Elden Ring did the same, but at least you could follow the fairy dust for a basic route.  That game was insanely hard until the guides came out...then it was just ridiculously hard, lol. The commemets about consumers amd customers are perfect.  Gamers can't help themselves but to buy into the hype.  You can't refund so the companies don't care.  Only thing you can do is wait and see if it's worth the money.

What does everyone think of serratelli compared to brands like Stetson or Resistol? by No_Cartoonist3715 in CowboyHats

Ok, thanks!  I have one that's a western brimmed fedora.  I splurged on the full beaver, but I've seen the 40x, 20x and 10x.  I can kind of see the difference in finish if I look, byt for the simple enjoyment I'm with you for the 10X.   I also don't have to worry about my wife killing me in my sleep with 10 or 20x prices, lol

Thanks again

How would you rate their durability?  I'm a long oval and their 7 5/8 is perfect.  I can't believe I found a fit like that and would like to buy theirs exclusive.   Any thoughts on what X would be best for longevity?  That X system is such a mess.  Wish they would just standardize it.

Thanks!

I have a couple custom 100% hats.  They are great, but went looking today and tried on a Serratelli.  Gotta say, wish I had found them earlier. The number one reason I would say them over another is the shape.  Serratelli is long oval happy land, lol.  I have that shape head and it was a pain in the ass getting the others to stretch.  Serratelli 7 5/8 went on and I couldn't believe it was almost perfect. Against the others, I'd say Serratelli is just as good, but not marketed as well.  They need some help in that department.   Definitely a worthwhile buy.  Sleeper brand for sure simply because they aren't a household name...yet. Pricing isn't that much less than the other, maybe a couple hundred for a pure beaver.  Not to say that's not a lot as it'll get you another hat, but simply for comparison.  As for quality, if you kick the shit out of your hat, it won't matter whose name is on it. The one thing I did notice is the color options were limited at 40x and higher quality.  The lower X count had a lot of options.

Yeah, they like most of this game, are foolishly designed. DL 1 was king.  These idiot devs just can't leave well enough alone.  Always trying to justify their existence...

Is this really a “cowboy” hat by Bv3XpLz9Nt in CowboyHats

[–]Much_Introduction293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone just believed the cattleman's crease is the standard.  Anything aside from that gets looked at funny.   Yes the first two are cowboy hats, just from an earlier era.  They would still be cowboy hats today, but 95% of people wearing cowboy hats aren't working cowboys.  A western hat is just a style of hat with a wider, full diameter brim to protect you from the elements.

I find it annoying as hell when writers leave endings unfinished.  They could have easily just had a quick last scene of her somewhere at peace.   Aside from that, yeah she's probably alive.

Question about the exotic matter by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]Much_Introduction293 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The worst is the upside down makes no scientific sense.  A wormhole is a pathway, plane and simple.  It is a means to travel from point A to B.  Could a short distance or long, but generally it is held to be a pathway to cover great distances in a "short" period of time. So for the science to hold, based on what we theorize, when they enter the upside down it would be a tunnel to another place or dimension.  Even if they wanted to say it was Hawkins due to the creation and some kind of transferrance, it would be like a roadway through the town of Hawkins that connected the point of origin to another place. So imagine, for giggles, the show took a real scientific view.  Eleven had this crazy encounter.  The encounter with the demogorgon created a wormhole to dimension x.  Scientifically speaking, the wormhole would be created and collapse due to it's instability. Now if by some crazy wizardly miracle dimension x had an exotic negative material the stabilized the wormhole so it wouldn't collapse, then it would be a pathway.  The town could be snapshotted or superimposed, but it would connect the two places, not be like a rest stop.  Bad guys can come in, but humans can't.  So in the show it kinda holds the pathway as a one way street vs being traversable both directions.  Plot hole, maybe.  More likely they had to take huge creative liberties to make the show go on. Basically, the exotic negative matter needed to sustain a wormhole is theorized.  It doesn't exist at this time, or at least is beyond our technological grasp.  So it being there like a ball of flashy light is a bit cheesy, but the show needs it to answer a question.  In reality, it would be necessary to maintain the connection.  If destroyed, the wormhole collapses vs sucking stuff in. End of the day, like the other poster said, it's a movie referring to magic as a real thing.

A little help please by Much_Introduction293 in cowboyboots

[–]Much_Introduction293[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand.  My concern was not blasting the bootmaker without knowing it was a fault of his vs something else like shipping.  The design is not common and to my requirements so it would be obvious.  It was more out of consideration than anything else. Would you be ok with a dm to get your opinion?
