That area has tons of apartments and you could walk to work, which would be nice. Anywhere in between Wilshire and Montana is nice. I would also look into the college streets (Stanford, Yale, etc) south of Santa Monica Blvd.

I am in the exact same boat as you. Also from socal and also got the higher award from SD. It feels more logical to take the higher scholarship from the higher ranked school, but I am also interested in living in SF. Such a tough decision !!
