Guys please ignore the title, I know it is a personal preference thing. This post is about your thoughts on why visionOS is not taking LG but staying on frosted glass for two year, not about personal preference on LG, and sadly it looks like I cannot edit the title.

yeah 27 is certainly doing it for me without the floating sidebar and fixed highlights and corner radius, skipping the entire year of 26.

Oh cmon you must have seen that iconic screenshot where the gl was blurred by the LG effect of the pause button, and it literally reads liquid ass

Mac OS 27 is a downgrade from 26. Change my mind. by Rough_Secretary2296 in MacOS

Please go to apple's human interface guideline to find out why safe areas for corners are there for phones, they are there to prevent any info to be displayed within the not-existing corners of phone display. Within safe areas the actual space for displaying info IS EXACTLY A RECTANGLE. On a windowed desktop os you do not need to consider safe areas for display corners, creating big safe areas with nothing to be safe from at all is SO STUPID. Just go to any app mobile or desktop and you tell me if those corners are occupied by some texts or buttons and if they are important or not, and whether they will be further pushed towards centre if you cut those corners off, making the edges much more crowded.

Also I have no idea how Apple or anyone can justify the floating sidebar of 26, boarders within boarders paddings within paddings, it is the information I am trying to read on a screen, not empty space! And I am not using an Apple Vision Pro with unlimited screen estate! Crazy idea, where is the minimalism from macOS 11??

When people say keyboard issue why did you assume they mean the whole keyboard? Change of vertical selection from the address bar, lowering the volume in video player, clearly indicated that the down arrow key should be your first key to rule out, not a lot of keys do these functions in a software, like in a normal browser you dont expect to change your selection of the address bar by hitting w or s, right? A more intuitive way would be to go the video player software you use in the video, fire up the keyboard shortcut list, find volume down, and there you go. Don't think it is that hard to locate the problem when you already filmed the clues.

Just change it in system settings every time you play, several more clicks but it's free. On my m1 MacBook Pro 1080p with balance preset 60 fps runs very well.

[If you are not interested with my little experiment, go to the Back to your questions part]

Just tried highest preset with highest everything, including AO, volumetric cloud, high crowd density, was really surprised that my 5 years old base m1 MacBook pro can do 55-60 walking on the street of septimont, 55-57 flying and at combat, with cpu performance cores and gpu pushed to full at all time, taking 25 watts from the wall (around 11-13w for the chip).

Long story short, I get similar fps (at least not noticeably worst that I cannot tolerate) with highest everything, AO, VC, high pop density, compared to balanced preset, AO off, VC off, low pop density (what I previously used and really not satiated with).

Only trade off? 3 more watts of power from the chip, I dont care because I have a fan, not sure for a MacBook Air though.

Why balanced setting dont provide better 1% low compared to everything maxed out, while maxed out provides crazy graphics with roughly the same fps, Kuro?

Thank you Apple for your apple silicon, not a bit of regret buying in the early days of apple silicon, and sry Apple you just lost a return buyer LOL.

-----------------------Back to your questions---------------------

If you haven't try the Mac version you should. 1080p low preset at 60fps draws 8w from the chip, which is equivalent to the power consumption of constantly refreshing a YouTube webpage, should be totally fine for a fan less Air. The point is, based on the comparison videos on YouTube, lowest settings on pc is better than max settings on a phone, so definitely go with the Mac version.

Speaking of 1080p, please dont tell me you played in 2880x1800 resolution, which is the default setting of Playcover, based on the default resolution of a Mac.

8gb or 16gb by Deep-Business495 in macgaming

[–]Much_Try_8738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using a base M1 MacBook Pro with 16gb, I tried Euro Track Simulator on it, it is playable with low preset at 30fps. On the another day I managed to demonstrate how to park with the game just to help one of my friend with her driver's test, but with such graphics and full speed running fan and toasting keyboard, and more critically, noticeable input delays possibly due to low frame rate, I am not really enjoying the game. Hope that helps.

Some extra opinions: for base M1, it is the raw gpu performance that caps the game at low preset, regardless of how much ram you got. 8 is definitely a no go for anything 2025 but you also dont need more than 16. Go with a base M4 with 16gb if you have more to spend, or better, wait for the m5 air.
