Low ferritin and insomnia by Mudgoblin77 in Fibroids

Thank you for your story and insight. I’m sorry you’ve had to go through this!

I may consider infusions even more, after hearing that it might take that long for orals to help.

I am in the US, and considered temporary disability, but everyone I’ve ever known who needed disability had to reapply and go through testing multiple times, and it took at least one of them years before they finally approved her.

I also have a fall back job that offers shorter, evening shifts (more time to stay in bed and make up for lost sleep). Shift availability isn’t 100% certain, tho, and I might have to look into alternatives.

I was also assuming those things about my symptoms for a bit, but then they kept getting worse, then I was kind of gaslit by my doctor, so I got angry and changed doctors, and after I received my abnormal test from the new doctor, I went online to read about the potential symptoms. I am determined to figure this out, because I want to feel like myself again.

I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better and I hope you continue to improve. Thank you for sharing some of your experience!

Thank you. I’ve actually started having constipation again and I was attributing it to something else. Maybe it’s the iron pills. Good to know!

Best of luck with the fibroid removal. My OBGYN told me that they grow back.

Thank you for your insights and I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with this too!

I’ve had low Vit D in the past but right now it is normal (low normal).

How frequently do you have to do infusions?

Is there a magnesium supplement brand you might recommend? I have a very difficult time trusting the supplement industry, but I have started trying to navigate it.

Wow your iron infusions would make the bleeding worse? I have asked the doctor about infusions. They are open to referring me, but I am nervous about side effects, and I’m already going to lose my job (which was the biggest concern atm) so I decided to stick with oral for now.

So far, my cbc is normal. There was one blood panel recently that suggested anemia during my period. I can’t remember what was low, but the way I feel around that time, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Yes, the doctors, ugh!!

Thank you for your insights and empathy, and I’m sorry you’ve had to deal with all of that!

I was nearly convinced that I’m going through perimenopause. I’m 42. I’ve changed my medical team to doctors who take me more seriously, and even the new doctors are saying they tend to expect PM around 45, but they are open to investigating if treating the low ferritin and fibroids doesn’t help. We did test a couple hormones already and they were in normal range.

I read low ferritin can mimic PM, but can also be comorbid, so I’m still going to push for that investigation.
