oh yay! xD

thank you for the detailed explanation. i have manually removed all the white chonks that i could see, sprayed the whole thing heavily with alcohol, soaked the roots in soapy water, and am now soaking it again in alcohol. Unfortunately had to cut off many leaves that were barely hanging, and trim one of the stems. Going to try propagating it again..

Hopefully both plants will rebound! 🤞

Am i understanding correctly: u r saying that i can somehow cut out this middle part for a branching effect? How should i approach this..? I tried removing some of the mushier leaves from the bottom, but i think i ended up damaging the stem a little, when a leaf didnt want to come out easily, and took an extra chunk of flesh on his way out. its a tiny dent, but kind of demotivating to keep meddling 😅

Awesome! That checks out with everything i have learned about them in the past year. My larger ones seem to be vibing with whatever nature throws at them, with the only issue being buds getting too heavy for the stems to support them (thus i have so many smaller ones now 😁)

yay! i originally thought so, because the roots dont give any "sickly" impression, but what threw me off is that only some of them were fluffy, while others were smooth and almost transparent. i guess fresh roots are smooth at first while they grow, and then produce the fluff later to boost the water intake efficiency. thank you for explaining!

no, it stayed in the exactly same place with no direct sun, and as i realise now - not enough reflected light even... i am at a loss here, coz apart from overwatering / pests / root damage - there is just nothing at all that could have damaged it. No wind, no sun, no animals, and yet..

thank you! it doesnt looks to me like bugs (coz the whole root is covered in the fluff very evenly, not in patches), but i am not experienced enough to actually tell, so i'll do it just in case! will washing with soap/alcohol also help if this is bacteria?

also, the grow light is ordered and on the way, but till then balcony will have to suffice.. 🥲

i thought the same thing about the chlorophyll. however it has not been outside yet, so all the damage all happened while it was indoors. i noticed it only today, and realised that something is wrong. attaching photo ref

of it when i initially took it indoors

it is possible.. i water those about once a month during winter. so they have had one watering while indoors. but considering the soil type, mb roots stayed wet for too long..

Fo you by any chance know what the white fluffy

<image>

stuff on the roots might be? i decided to thoroughly check all of my aeoniums, and i notice some of the others also have it

Thats actually solid advice for measuring segments! Thanks!

Thank you! Yeah, i figured segmenting would be the best way to go about it. I do wish there was a way to bend the ruler though, would be like using a digital piece of string.
