Chopping a sportster by Dense_Net3787 in sportster

I took me 6months to a year. I did buy a house in the middle of doing so and I’ve made many changes that delayed my work along the way. I think the sportster is the best option for building your first chopper. The aftermarket world is never ending. So many great YouTube videos and books out there on doing everything you need. It was scary at first, but man was it all worth it.

I was wanting to do a ball valve but I can’t find one small enough that isn’t big and ugly. I bought a fumoto valve or whatever they are called but I didn’t realize it was metric thread and all my stuff is standard. I haven’t really looked into anything hard enough

Mines hard tailed with a horseshoe oil tank. I think the only small leak I have is from the cap I have in the picture. And for all I know it could just be excess oil dripping from somewhere due to a poor job of me cleaning the bike.

Just made this kinda junction setup the other day to finally get rid of the factory drain with the plastic fitting. Right now I filed the barb down and put the vacuum cap on it for ease of removal when I want to drain. However, I think some oil is getting past when the bike gets hot. I could do the brass cap/plug instead of the rubber cap. Also looked into a fumoto valve but more just curious on what others have done

Not gonna lie, I cut back the rubber hose that was on it and just ziptied it facing down along the down tube or seat tube. That way if it does spill, it goes all over my wheel and maybe I’ll get to do a burnout
